1. First off to start this listing, I moved to Greeneville Tennessee from Dubuque Iowa during football season. It's great to see the Hawkeyes downfall the past few weeks while the Vols rise. So number one is becoming a bandwagon Vols fan 2. Getting to ride with my wild bunch family more often! T-bird if you are reading this I'm showing up at your front door unexpected soon. 3. Switching from forestry equipment to lawn mowers. Less complex of a product, but much more sophisticated manufacturing processes. 4. Work - I'm just going to say it, if you're offended I'm sorry. I like the none union environment vs union. Night and day difference in moral, or that could just be southern hospitality 5. Learning some new terminology at work for instance Retard; verb; to place sealant over a road surface - "Did you notice they retard the parking lot yestidy" Yestidy; the day before today Skittling; adjective; description of something fitting loosely - "That blade shaft is skittling in the slot" 6. Finally getting running water and electricity in my cabin is considered "high class amenities" I've heard the term "you can't hide money" several times describing my initial move-in problems I faced. 7. Iowa and Idaho gets confusing, but who gives a damn because Yankees! that's why! and I tend to agree. 8. Roads! In the great state of Tennessee the shortest distance between two points is a circle. 9. Southern Bells; being single and having a job = CENSORED  10. God's country! and it is, and I'm thrilled everyday to be a here. |

I NEVER had any doubt that you'd assimilate well.
Glad that everything is working out so well for you.
East TN ranks high among the places that I would live.
The people there are just friendlier than other places.
My Dad was born in Erwin, TN he always said that if you stopped and asked somebody for directions in TN they'd invite you in for supper.
It's been my experience that the hospitality of folks starts to diminish as you get west of Knoxville.
Reb, I know what you mean about TN girls!
I REALLY love to hear them talk.
Watch out for those TN boys though they can be very protective of their women.
The reason that TN is called the Volunteer State is that they were known to favor running into a fight.

Reb, you can turn off the main road onto a side road and ride for 30 minutes and eventually you will return out to a main road,,BUT, you wont know what road it is because in TN they only put the street signs on the secondary roads,, thats to keep you guessin,,

glad it is working out for you on the move and all, or should I say y'all... being a southerner now..  speaking of john deere riding mowers now in your line of business, my neighbor let me borrow his a few times being a basic home depot 17 hp kohler engine hydrostatic 42" cut, and is there anyway to disable the annoying safety feature that when you get off the seat while engine running, the engine stops running. There has to be a safety switch cutoff under the seat somewhere that when no weight is present on the seat, I can disconnect it somehow?? If I wanted to shut the darn engine off, I would just turn the key to off. |

Since the construction and forestry side is more aimed towards, Joe Shmo logger, or Joe Shmo construction worker. There is a better costumer base with operational experience. Since lawn mowers are sold to every Tom, Dick, and Harry out there that may have no mechanical inclination or operation experience. Cross that along with the sue happy world we live in today, lawn mowers have more annoying safety features on them so Deere can protect themselves from lawsuits. there are two wires feeding the seat.. unplug the wires at the seat and short them together,,or leave them plugged in and short them together,, disclaimer,, if you fall off you could be killed by a run away mower..

In the late 80's my 18 broke in Crossville Tenn. I was stuck over Christmas.
The nicest people I have ever met. I had long hair and a goatee.
It was raining lightly one evening and I decided to go for a walk.
3 people pulled over and asked if I needed a ride.
The owner of the shop told me I was coming to his house for Christmas dinner.
I'd move there in a heartbeat.
Eastern Tennessee, I-40 was always one of the highlights of my cross country drives.
