After 35 years of marriage, it seems my wife has finally given in and started to understand my long-prescribed-to motto when it comes to household chores..."Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow, in order to go for a ride".  Today, instead of taking care of a few items on our home of the past 29 years as planned prior to listing it for sale to begin our journey into retirement (or at least semi-retirement).... making the move to the beautiful Shuswap region of BC, she willingly embraced this motto and was an easy sell to forgo those chores and hop on for a nice 5 hour Autumn ride. A nice break from the monsoons we've been having all week, today presented itself as a perfect day to ride!!

With the skies clearing, we head out East on Hwy7

That's fresh snow up there...yup, amazing how time flies...one day it's Summer, and then before you know it.... tickedoff Contrary to what some may think, not ALL of Canada becomes a frozen tundra throughout the Winter months. Here in "Paradise" - SW BC, our exposure to the white stuff is usually limited to a few weeks spread out between late December to the end of February...the rest of the time we just enjoy the view of it up on the various mountain ranges Smiley  Once we make the move 5 hours up North however, the old Valk will be getting a little rest for a good 3 months or so of "real" Winter....that will be strange.

Heading up towards Hemlock Valley, which leads up to a couple of my favorite Spring and Summer fishing spots...

Salmon at their final destination...up into the Fraser River at the coast, into the Harrison River, then into the creeks and streams here in the Hemlock Valley

My beautiful bride and co-pilot for the past 35 years.

Seems she's found someone better lookin' than this old guy....

Lost the sun for the "money shot"

Yup, beats the h*** out of doing chores any day cooldude cooldude

Beautiful Mike.

Sure you might only have a 2 month winter, beautiful scenery, awesome roads and not be frozen tundra half the year but do you...umm. Can you...umm.

Yeah, you got the rest of Canada beat.

Spectacular.  Thanks.  cooldude

Having put off the leaves longer than I should, I have a date with my chipper-vac, lawnmower, blower, rake and sore back today.

24 years ago when I found this house I thought..... man all those 100yo oaks are spectacular.

Now I look at them and say......  tickedoff@#%^& KMA!!!!!

WOW! Mike... Jess is right, spectacular indeed! Love to ride in your neck of the woods... may have to wander up that way next year. Good ride report... We all identify with your 'motto', and we salute you in successfully recruiting your spousal unit to come over to 'our' side! Appears you have much more than just a great riding area going for you... Thanks for sharing.

P.S. I think you're right to be worried about the competition... He looks like to me to be a fine specimen! A bit sappy, perhaps, but women seem to like that...
