Even though I set the DVR to record an extra hour, it wasn't enough and I missed the bottom of the 9th & top of the 10th.  Good thing there was a rain delay.  I prefer skipping the commercials.

Anyway, what I saw was a great game.  I was rooting for the long-suffering Cubbies even with their sin of being in the same town as O'Blecch.

As an aside - I wonder if the Indians coach got a chew endorsement contract?  Or was that seeds?  Wow never saw anybody work their chew so enthusiastically.

Ya gotta appreciate this song by Steve Goodman:

We now return you to your regularly scheduled trolling of politics and each other. 2funny

David Ross, 39 year old Cubs catcher in his final game of professional baseball, hits a home run to center field (400 feet).   That's just ******* fantastic and Ted Williamsesque.  I'd like to shake his hand. Smiley

For the Indians, they could have just as easily won that game (and deservedly so) last night as the Cubs for coming back from being down 5-1 going into the bottom of the 5th; then behind 6-3 in the bottom of the 8th and tying it up.  But not to be...that's baseball... Cry and that's why it's a great sport.  Baseball teaches that there is normally more losing in life than winning; the occasional joy of victory is fulfilling and immeasurable all at once. There may be redemption in your next at bat.  Take it all in while you can. Cool

Cubs manager Joe Maddon took his dad's cap out of his back pocket, wore it on the field after the game and choked up during an interview.  My dad's cap hangs on a mirror in our house...thank you dad. angel

One thing that I'm happy about for the Indians is that I haven't seen any negative stuff re: how they lost this series after being up 3-1.

That's because Cleveland didn't lose it so much as they were beaten by a better team in a seven game series.

And that is why baseball is a better sport than football.  In football, all you have to do is be a winning team (not necessarily better) for one game to be considered a world champion.  I shall always advocate for a best of three series between the contenders in order to prove that you deserve an NFL trophy.
The most often heard phrase after a Super Bowl is: "I thought it would be a better game than this."

Yes, I agree. That's why the Championship games are the best of the NFL Playoffs

Yeah, with all the bad press about the violence in Chicago it was wonderful to see that city celebrate with class and style. Bravo Chicago! Harry'd be proud.
