I think fall is probably the best time to ride, at least in Indiana.  The temperature is perfect, the humidity is low, and you get these beautiful clear days when the sky is so blue.  I love it when the sun is so warm, but you get that slight chill when you ride into the shadows of the trees along the road, like a quick hint at the coldness of winter to come.
The leaves that fall in the road dance in the wind wake as you pass through them.  Those oranges, reds, and yellows of the trees make such a huge counterpoint to the brilliant blue of the sky.  Even the smoke that you pass through from the burning leaves seems magical.
And, not sure about other states, but in Indiana, it seems everyone waves at you as you pass by them doing their Autumn chores.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Yea today was esp nice. Took the Blue Star Hyw to Lagro and to Hanging Rock. Then a spin thru Salamonie Forest. Back up thru Andrews along the river to H-town. Small 40 mile ride till April/May.
