Wanted: 3D printer

I always have ideas, but it doesn't go anywhere. Here is another one.

Does anyone have or access to, a 3D printer? Preferably an ABS one?

I've been reading up on them. I looks like I could also send the files off to a Print House, who will print the file I supply them. But if I can get another member, there should be some collaboration involved.

Cheap CAD program would be QCad, for printers with a good prices, check out the ones below. I bought many of my parts from them and my CNC laser engravers. CNC, 3Dprinters and CNC Lasres work off the same principal,  X, Y, and Z. If I understand you correctly, type in 3D printers in their search box.

I have a 3d printer. I haven't printed with ABS yet just PLA.
I do have a spool of black ABS. I can do up to 225x225mms by 250mm tall.

I was surprised to find our local High School had a couple different 3D printers in the shop classes.  I suggest you make friends with your local shop teacher.

RULE of THUMB!!  With plastics, have good ventilation, don't assume that if it don't hit you in the head like a 2X4, it won't hurt you. Work smart! If you can smell plastics, it is giving off gases and ASSUME they are toxic, for safe health. ABS has kind of a sweet smell, I worked with it allot, for vacuum forming.

Sketchup!!..there is a free download version that is very complete...a few features missing, but for you and me this free version is more than adequate...not only that, the learning curve is almost vertical with a few hours of experimenting. I have a number of models in the "sketchup warehouse" (click file and look for 3D warehouse) that can be accessed by searching "seventhson" once warehouse is open on your sketchup screen.
There are several homes in there that I have designed and built using Sketchup to develop ideas from rough drawings and hand sketches provided by clients.
There is a huge number of tutorials on youtube to learn how to use Sketchup.

icandoitfaster where are youuuu?? Paul, do you have one in your High School?

What I was thinking. Look for a used pair of fog lights from a car (wreck). There are a LOT of them out there. Inexpensive. See how I could mount it in the IS Pods.

Then I was hoping I could image capture the Honda Fog light "shield", which would make it fit in the pod like it belongs there. Modify it to fit the car fog lights. Hope would be able to print up the parts in ABS plastic.

Even supply the 3D image to a Print shop and have them make parts in metal, if I need it.
