Funny to see this video. Our granddaughter was just bragging to us at dinner about going 157mph on the back of a motorcycle somewhere around Tampa. She's 17.........need I say more? Idiots on those zip-splats think they are bulletproof.

Whenever I see videos like this, I always think of the WWII Japanese doing bayonet charges into the Marine machine guns screaming Banzai.
They so often have the same results.
So you think you're bulletproof do you?
My caption for this is........ Good with the throttle, shitty with the brakes.
When you exceed the speed of traffic by 30-50mph for any time, it is very easy to forget how hard it is to stop. He should have been braking (or changing lanes) much sooner, the instant the pickup began moving over.

I would be having a SERIOUS chat with her and her mom/dad about this since it will eventually happen again with not so good results maybe next time? I bitched out my daughter when in high school went atving with her then boyfriend on back of an old ATV on their farm along the ditch/side of road with NO helmet on even doing 20-35 mph is dangerous. I told him and her both NEVER again or crap is going to hit the fan. What pissed me off more than anything else she knew BETTER yet did it anyways. Glad she got rid of that 'friend' along with several others in high school.

This reminds me of something my dad told me when my son was starting to go out on his own with his friends.
You can only hope you instilled some good common sense in those kids cause once they leave your sight, you've lost all control. He was right.............

Reminds me of this story: https://rockthegear.wordpress.com/brittanys-story/Thanks for posting that. I've not read that story before. I have lapses many times about gear. My worst road rash was nowhere near hers, but yet the 2 months after was the second most painful event of my life. I had a leather jacket and jeans. I am much better about gearing up now but I still lapse on occasion. Rode 200 miles home a few days ago without my jacket on, because it felt good. My wife has only been riding for 10 years, and it is still a challenge to get her ATGATT. Another observation I have that I'm sure will stir debate. I have always preferred a full face since the first time I face planted on a Suzuki 90. But I've always thought as long as they fit right and were certified a $50 helmet is just as good as a $800 helmet.

157 on the back?? I would have had to speak with the lad. Probably his father too. I'm guilty, but they can learn without the helo ride.

I would do more than chat with that lad if my daughter on back doing anything over 85 mph, not that 85 vs. 150 mph would matter much. He would be GONE out of my daughters life forever that would be a given. That one time my daughter was on the farm ATV with her 'friend' in high school with no helmet on riding alongside road in a ditch doing 35 mph was about all I could take telling daughter will NOT happen again EVER and she agreed was a stupid thing to do especially since we both took the ATV safety course required of her to take along with always riding ATVs with us all having helmets on all the time. I sometimes if really hot out just wore safety goggles on our ATVs but never the kids always full goggles and helmet.

The chive title was lane splitting. That wasn't lane splitting, it was reckless driving.

Reminds me of this story: https://rockthegear.wordpress.com/brittanys-story/article said was going 120 mph 2-up and she skid over 500 feet on pavement. Not that it might have made a difference, but say 60 mph and skid on pavement of 100 feet might have helped? She was very lucky indeed. I wear my helmet 99% of the time, but that 1% might get you? However, I do wear tshirt and shorts if HOT out although have tried my mesh breathable armored jacket in near 90 degree temps and as long as moving on hwy. most of the time, is not too hot to wear unless in traffic/slower speeds. Even the best of riders might go down eventually that is why they are called accidents, it can happen. Never been down moving on a cycle only parked once tipped a cycle over when 20 years old busting a taillight is about it, not sure I want to find out even doing 30 mph let alone my normal 63 mph.
