Not to be negative just giving you some heads up. Check what" boldygo"on the 1800 valkyrie board just said about your bmw bike. Here's the quote
traded a 2012 BMW K1600GTL. One would ask why? Well, the BMW consumed 1 cup of oil every 1000 km, constantly fell out of 2nd gear into neutral requiring me to "pre-load" and the bike became a 2x4 sheet in the wind. My only complaint about the Valkyrie so far is the lack of touring comfort which I am working on thanks to posters on this thread like the windshield suggestion. I also have purchased RIVCO highway pegs. Has anyone here modified the handle bars to obtain a 1-1.5" extended reach? I am wondering what was involved and the costs?
If it's 2012 model, he just traded one and you might have bought his. Good luck

I test rode the BMW a while back at a dealers open house.
I liked how it rode and handled very well.
I did feel that it had great potential for electrical issues as it has ALOT of gadgets.
BTW, you don't have to leave the forum just because you don't have a VALK at the moment.

I was reading up on these bikes for a while. Over in the ADV forum there are many that have posted about the K1600 line of bikes. Electrical. computer, and rear drive issues seemed to be the most prevalent.......all at great expense and down time.
Last time I checked BMW was the only motorcycle manufacturer that had more recalls than Harley.
I had an R1150R for a while and loved the handling and power. That was about it as the riding position wore out a pair of gloves in the palm area in no time due to the forward lean.
