I met a young guy at a gas station the other day when we were both getting gas. He had an interesting story that he shared with me. He was from Indiana and was on his way home from a 6,000 mile road trip. He said he was about to turn 30 and decided this was something he wanted to do. He is a single guy riding solo. This is where it gets interesting he has only been riding 2 months with 3 weeks of that being on the road solo. He found a 1998 750 shadow with 17,000 miles for $2200.00. He had a couple small saddlebags stuffed full and his camping gear strapped on the back fender. He mentioned there is a website that has free camping sites all over the country and that is where he stayed. Another amazing thing was he was riding without a shield. He said the worst place he road through was LA and he was just glad he survived. He has already decided his next road trip will be to Alaska. I suggested he get on this website and talk with Daniel Meyer who has first hand knowledge of the Alaska roads. I forgot to mention he said the movie Easy Rider inspired him to get a bike and take a road trip.

The TV show "Then came Bronson" inspired me. But it was a Yamaha for me. When I told my Grandmother that I would just find a secluded spot and pull off and camp, she was mortified that I was going to get killed. Never had any trouble anywhere.  Smiley

A free spirit, two good wheels, and an open road.
That's a great start, young man.  cooldude

Been to places I most likely would Not have gotten to had I not decided to follow the front wheel! Good to see some Youngsters decide to take up two wheeling!  cooldude Have a feelin that had I NOT been on two wheels 90% of my conversations would have NEVER taken place. RIDE SAFE.
