Heading out to attend veteran program at local school. Always good to see younger generation showing appreciation for our sacrifices. I just disagree with taps being rendered.
Quote from VFW magazine 2010:
Restoring Veterans Day
As a nation, we remember all Americans who served on active duty in the armed forces. While those who died always remain prominent in our memories, they have a special time of mourning reserved for Memorial Day. Veterans Day is an opportunity to publicly commemorate the contributions of living veterans.
Enjoy your freedom thank a Vet.

Thank you for your Serivce! I just got back from going with my daughter to a free veterans breakfast. Good food, American Legion band playing the National Anthem. No one TOOK A KNEE! Tuxedo Junction almost sounded like the Glenn Miller Band. Of course, most won't know what I'm talking about It was a truly patriotic gathering.

Not being able to work today due to it being Veterans Day I woke up thinking of my father who passed away last December 5th. He volunteered and joined the navy during WWII. I want to thank all who served and all who sacrificed for this great country.

Glancing at the TV, and I must say, there is something that bugs me about Veterans Day and others like it. It brings out the blood suckers and bottom feeders that exploit our military people, present and past. "VETERANS DAY SALES", If you want to give military people a discount or deals on things, then fine. Veterans Day sales should be for "military people only" to show appreciation, not to exploit them for business profit. Just my opinion!!

Dreamaker . what pisses me off even more are those at the restuarants for the free Veterans meals who are not Veterans. Last year one obvious one , Warrant Officers bars and Sargents stripes. I asked the hostess if she was asking for ID's. I made a big showing of mine. Some others did. I should have called him out.

I don't wait for Veterans Day to show my appreciation. Any time I see someone in the military or wearing an article of clothing like a hat showing they were in I always thank them. And when I see them in a restaurant I always try to pay their bill. They deserve our appreciation every day.

She comes home hurtin from the hard work. Love that girl.

This is for all from the Revolutionary War to the present day;
To all the men and women who have served, thank you.
To all who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, God Bless You.
To those who have lost family members, your loss is not forgotten and it's greatly appreciated.
To those who are buried in a foreign land, you are not forgotten.
To those children who lost a parent know that they are true heroes.
To any that I missed you are not forgotten and this nation owes you all a debt of gratitude.
God Bless you all and Thank you for your service and sacrifices.

Tuxedo Junction almost sounded like the Glenn Miller Band. Of course, most won't know what I'm talking about It was a truly patriotic gathering. I remember a lot of the Big Band era, grew up with that music. My folks had their big old floor model radio tuned to stations that played it all the time, especially during the war. Strangely enough, my girls loved that old music as well. The three older ones used to sing together and would mimic the sound of the Andrews sisters. Made this old dad proud to hear them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBTYcqtaOjghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teJfuKdzbOoThis one my girls used to love to sing as they circled around me, kinda poking fun at old dad. Oh how I miss it, two of the three are gone now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfY7L__-kIQ
