We need a northern wall. Bigly. Or maybe it would be cheaper to just put up the largest fans ever made all along the gulf and blow that warm air North. I remember Honest John ( I think ) that tried to scam the Clampett family into setting up huge fans in the surrounding mountains of LA to blow all the smog out. Either way I am all in. My son had a two hour delay today ( all the schools in Dayton and surrounding areas did because of the extreme cold). Spending 17 years of school in Central Michigan, we never had a single two hour delay and it was rare to close school for snow. All those fine Canadians in the Northern Climes probably think we are WUSSIES down here. They would be correct. |

I didn't think anybody was left up there in Canada. All the snowbirds are down here on a 6 month vacation blocking all the traffic around here.
Honestly though, I have no idea how you guys live up there in that stuff. I deal with sub zero temps all the way down to -65 here at work all the time...but there's no way I could ever live in that stuff. I wouldn't have a clue how to deal with it all.

No hurricanes up here. No earthquakes. No volcanoes. ...just 4-6 months of winter. So we make the best of it. We play hockey, ice fish, ski, snowmobile, etc. Sure, it's not like being able to ride all year, but it makes you appreciate the riding months even more. |

If it's any consolation, it's supposed to get down to 18 (That's almost -8 in that silly commie metric thingy) Saturday night here in The Republic. (Sorry, I don't know the metric conversion for days of the week, don't know what Metric Saturday is)
And for some nice bi-polar weather, the HIGH Saturday is supposed to be 72... (22.2 in commie). Pretty big drop for one day!

I didn't know you guys got that cool (can't call that cold yet  ) down there. Learn something new every day. -40 range here tonight (-40C=-40F...so no calculators required)...but -3 is in the forecast next week! That's 26 degrees in your everyone-else-in-the-world-is-wrong system. |

We'll regularly hit 90F here in the summer, maybe 100 once or twice. But it's a dry heat. Totally different. Riding across SD a couple years ago in 105 that dry heat, I thought my nose was falling off, it was so burnt and dry it was coming of in chunks. First time in my life I'd ridden without a leather jacket and helmet on. Just couldn't. And that is nothing compared to your humid heat, or so I've been told. |

I have no idea how auto body shops, mechanics, roofers, etc work in that kind of heat. Thanks guys...it's -32 here now, -41 with the windchill, but it brings me joy knowing you guys are miserable for a couple months a year as well. |

I have ridden in 100 - 105 F temps. Personally, I would rather ride any day/all day in 35-40 F temps. I'm sure some can cope or adapt, but it must really suck to have bright sunny days, but be TOO warm to ride (or fish, hike, or any other outdoor activity). Can always add layers, but you can only take off so many without getting arrested  |

Our low for the week was -6.6* (from my Lacrosse weather station, mounted on my deck), while it is a balmy 18* right now, the 'High' for tomorrow is said to be -4* Add to that, we've had over 12" of snow this week, with 3 - 5 more by 9:00 tonight. Kickoff for the Packers Bears game tomorrow, is predicted to be 0! (may be the coldest game ever, between these two teams... Black Dog |
