It seems like we are in the middle of one. Is there no end to the espionage intrigue ?

? Which one? I always liked reading Clancy novels, the Jack Ryan books, not all the others, written with other authors (Op Center, etc) or the real life ones (Armour?).

Actually I've only read a couple of them.

I believe I've read everything Clancy has written. Well, maybe not everything but, only because I didn't know about a book of his. Love his work.

All this crap today is much ado about nothing (nothing much important).
Nothing like John Walker, Navy operational cyphers, operational orders, war plans, technical manuals, Navy submarine missile forces, and intelligence digests. Or Jonathan Pollard, Aldrich Ames or FBI agent Robert Hanssen. Those were espionage.

Maybe, it feels big and getting bigger.

No actually it sounds more like Laurel and Hardy.
You must still be thinking of Hillary's emails.

I got into the Clancy Jack Ryan universe in the Navy. Read most everything and now I stream the books for my rides to work. I have listened to the ones I had reviously read....love them. He got called to a Senate investigation on suspiscion of disclosing classified information...he said he found everything in the library and then spun a tale

I was a fan of Clancy until I read The Teeth of the Dragon (2003). His writing had been losing its edge since Rainbow Six. What took the cake for me in Teeth of the Dragon was when he had brothers in their early 20's at a Ferrari dealership comparing the cars to Grace Kelly and Maureen O'Hara, who would have been 74 (had she still been alive) and 80, respectively, when the book was published. The book that I am looking forward to seeing as a movie is Without Remorse. Apparently it's in development. I hope they follow the book and set it in 1970, with the main character, John Kelly, driving an International Scout. I wonder if they can find an actor who can portray the toughness and coolheaded intelligence of Kelly. Steve McQueen would have been perfect.

I too liked the John Kelly character history, and where he came from in Without Remorse. I used to own a 73 Scout II, so knew what was there. Also his sailing/island too. Another would be Clear and Present Danger. Liked the teams in country and what they where finally doing to the narcotics channels. Red Storm Rising, another on how the next European Theatre war might work out. meathead, I would read them in order of publication. Each is a stand alone novel, but it is nice reading them in order.
