Just finished reading the book titled "Grace and Grit: Motorcycle dispatches from early twentieth century women adventurers".

Link in Amazon:

It tells the stories of a few women adventurers that crossed this great country around 1916's. It is pretty fascinating to see the pictures of those long gone days and the description of how challenging were the 'roads' (more like trails really) that any adventurer had to face to travel from coast to coast.

It is even more interesting to think what a great feat of endurance and sheer will this ladies were able to accomplish, considering all the society restrictions concerning rights and freedom that were imposed on women at the time.

The book has maps with the route that was used by each adventurer:
a) Della Crewe
b) Effie and Avis Hotchkiss
c) The Van Buren sisters

The book is a bit pricey (19 bucks) but is a nice and easy reading.
