I rode thru in the opposite direction in March 2014 on my way to GOTF

Bonnie and I did it later in October when we returned and rented the vette convertible for 2 days

This video captures the ride from west to east but not the scenic part thru the gorge

https://youtu.be/XyS6RYz-i8Q

This is NOT the scenic drive which if you want to do it right, you walk the paths about 5 miles or so to the beginning of the wilderness  Sometimes we wondered off the paths tho

Thank you Britman for telling me not to pass this up, I have 2 great photos in my house of Zion because of you   cooldude  and got to share it with my bride

here is a great link of pics

thanks for sharing, on my bucket list one of these years as well.

why though in those pics are they walking thru the gorge filled with water about waist deep, is that safe?

now that we have a mid sized sedan getting near 40 hwy mpg with a large 18 gallon gas tank,  driving out there in say 3 tanks of gas would be a cheap go of it enjoying the scenery for 1-2 weeks.  Just gotta do it is all.. cooldude

Evan,

Judy and I were there last September....There is a photo from the same spot in the link below (one of the last photos in the link). Unfortunately, we were neither on the Valk or in a 'Vette, but a Sentra....was a great trip, though.

Unless it happens to rain, the water is pretty much ankle deep in most places cookiedough  and it seldom rains.  The paths on both sides of the gorge are well travelled and safe for any age folks, we saw lots of kids parents old people...

There is a free shuttle from hotels just outside the park that takes you to another shuttle that follows the gorge. I think maybe five or six stops then a mile or so walk to the beginning of the wilderness.
and there is also campground in the park but ya hafta book early

If you plan a trip get the national park pass !  You should pass Bryce and Arches and a bunch of great national parks. In fact pass thru Bryce first then Zion then take a full day to get to Yosemite from the east gate  That is an AMAZING ride up 120 and even better coming back down

YOLO  you only live once  take the kids while you can

Yellowstone and Yosemite may sprawl majestically but Zion is like a cunningly crafted piece of jewelry.

My favorite National Park. My last visit was for a day and and a half and I spent all MY time moving from stopping space to stopping space and then walking into the park until the road was out of sight.

The beauty of riding a bike is being able to take advantage of space on the side of the road that a car; not even a Smart; could fit in.

At one point I just lay on a rock for an hour looking up at the sky.

I've never felt the same way about a piece of this planet as I do about Zion. The BRP is a closeish second but Zion is it.

These photos don't capture the color and strata of the rocks
