Liquid cooled, under 500 lbs, front dual discs w/abs option, inverted front and gas rear shocks, 6 speed. Around 9K. It's contender in it's class. Look's like a fun ride. I believe they make some in USA for the USA market, the ones that come to the NZ market are made in India.... there are plenty of 500's here as they are learner approved (we have a LAMS list of bikes you can ride on a stage one license) and those that have them seam to love them. 750's street rods are here but I have not seen one on the road

Every review I have read on the Harley 750 and 500 have put them at the bottom of this size market, some were just awefull reviews, but I can not say. In this market they like the Yamaha Bolt, and Kawasaki Vulcan S. I do hope this new Harley is a success.

HD has to compete with the others in that 500-700cc range or they too will be outta business. REASON: the younger crowd of cyclists do not want a big 1340cc slow poke big cruiser bike but more controllable mid-range size that is more affordable. Times have changed and so must HD.

Looked at the 500 and 750 at a Harley shop last fall. Was looking for my 17 year old. Sales guy said they were made in India. Also said the 500 was such a POS that he refused to sell them. Said the 750 was better but would not recomend it. This was a sales guy at the dealer.

Sorry to say this, and I might get flamed for it, but I'm glad to see the younger crowd going for the 500 and 750 bikes. When I was growing up, a 500 was a good size bike., and then things started to get out of control. Heck, some people who have Goldwings complain because Honda has not upgraded the GL1800 to a GL2000. Sometimes we tend to lose perspective of what really drove us to something! Also, the smaller bikes cost a lot less. If more young people are going to start riding, than it has to make economical sense. Entry level bikes are what young people should be purchasing, not $30,000 bikes which they definetly cannot afford. I think they made a good platform for this bike... many think the Japanese mid-size bikes are better, but you do finally have an "American" option for mid-size. Plus, there's always the possibility up upgrades for better performance.
The question here is if the Harley dealers will accept them as a "Harley" bike.
3 times I've been interested in Harleys... and 3 times the local dealers lost a possible sale due to the dealer themselves treating anything non-traditional as red-headed step-children. Two of those times, I was completely ignored when I was in the showroom trying (unsuccessfully) to ask questions about a bike. The last one (XR1200) I overheard several dealer personnel (Sales & Mechanics) talk about how horrible the bike was, mostly due to riding position. All three times, I walked out of the store without ever talking money to a sales rep. Two of those times, I purchased elsewhere within a few weeks.
- Buell Ulysses... Used Harley engine, but hated because it wasn't a typical cruiser > Soon after, I purchased a V-Strom instead. - V-Rod... More cruiser, but hated because it wasn't an air cooled traditional Harley engine - and most surprisingly, XR1200... Hated mostly because it wasn't feet forward > Soon after, I purchased a Triumph Thunderbird Sport instead
If they actually want sales out these bikes, the dealer network needs a SERIOUS overhaul in the way they think about bikes and how they treat non-traditionalists and non-Harley riders.

This is the ONLY Harley that I have ever purchased:  Even then I experienced a little bit of "Buyer's Remorse" the next morning.

Looks good but:
I just do not like twin cylinder engines, on my motorcycle, period. Have had a few in the past, when there were fewer choices. Today there is no reason to settle for only 2 cylinders. Perhaps they are ok for a cheap lawnmower.
