Wow, Just got back from Harbor Freight. They had what I think was a great deal on their table lift, $279.00. Cheapest I've ever seen it. Doesn't seem that big on display. Son pulled his Ranger around back to load and I walk with sales guy to back room. Guy jumps on fork lift, swings around and slides forks under a wooden box that I'm sure is holding the 20mm cannon from Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. I'm shocked at the size of wood crate for this lift! My 16yo son is shaking his head and looking at me. Kids today don't seem to enjoy an adventures like I did, when I was a kid. Got it home and now it's leaning against the wall of the garage. No way I could have done it without him. I told him as much and he's still shaking his head at me. After much thought and suggestions from the wife and other members I bought it. Hope it makes working and such on the Valk a little easier. At least that's what I hear.

I bought a lift on-line and had it delivered. It came in a big ass crate and was heavy as hell. It was a great day! It makes working on the bike so much easier, almost effortless!....

Congrats on the New Lift! I've had the H/F yellow M/C jack since shortly after gittin the Phatt Ghurl. Not one teensy tiny complaint bout my H/F yellow jack at ALL! May you be as happy with yer lift as I are with my jack! Meat-found me an office chair at a garage sale that is completely collapsed-the up and down mechanism. Phatt Ghurl on jack at 2nd 3d or 4th safety stop wurx fer me. And if something I need is on the bench I can generally roll over fairly easy. Tween the M/C jack and a floor jack and some adjustable safety stands-good to go What ever I duz! And doin the math in ma hed-near bout 7 years with that jack. RIDE SAFE.

excellent price I've been thinking about one for a while also. Kneeling for half a day is getting harder and harder. This is one of the biggest reasons for the purchase. Tore both left and right side meniscus on left leg recently. Went from no knee problems to, "damn my knee hurts". This was the other reason(s). Heard this a lot from a number of guys. Music to my ears. Anxious to try it out. Snow and shitty weather for most of the week and into next weekend here in NE Ohio. I bought a lift on-line and had it delivered. It came in a big ass crate and was heavy as hell. It was a great day! It makes working on the bike so much easier, almost effortless!.... Congrats on the New Lift! I was drooling at one yesterday at my local HF.
Decided I didn't need one, yet.
I'm still able to get around my bikes when they're on a M/C lift and I use a couple of office chairs on wheels, one for each side. The seats adjust up and down easily, so I'm able to find a comfortable position most times.
Those full bike lifts are nice, they just take up a lot of space.

Thats what's holding me back also. I just have a 2 car garage for Brenda's Miata and my 2 bikes. Not to mention all the other stuff I have in there. Realistically I'm going to have to build a separate shop first.

There is no doubt, full bike lifts are wonderful when you are using them. Sold the last one I had because it simply didn't get used enough for me to justify the space it was taking up. It started to become a storage table and a work bench. Was in the way a bunch and always loaded down with crap I had to move just to move the lift. Don't get me wrong, it was well worth owning it when I needed to put a bike on the lift but, that wasn't enough for me to justify keeping it. Sold it to another biker who thought he really needed it. Three months later, he was asking me if I wanted it back because he wasn't using it that much and was tired of all of his buddies coming over, using it and leaving him a mess to clean up. Again, I am not knocking owning one but, don't tell anyone else or, be prepared to host all your buddies wrench parties. Nothing wrong with that either, if............... Realistically I'm going to have to build a separate shop first.
Had the same problem. Discovered what my dad told me was true. Doesn't matter how big you build your space, it ain't gonna be big enough. My wife has the two car garage full, I get one corner of it for my Valkyrie. So, I built a 24 by 36 shop, 12 foot ceiling so I could put in a car/truck lift, has walk in attic space. Guess what, if's full of other people's crap. Yes, my stuff is in there also but....................... It ain't big enough.

If I remember correctly, I offered to buy you and your lovely wife a cold iced tea. Now, I'll go one better. Visit my shop and I'll provide the iced tea and show you some magic on how to do that. Can you weld/fabricate? As my ole pappy used to say, where there's a will, there's a way. Edited: But, only if you bring that lovely lady with ya.

But building and construction is not one of them. Nor is my taking supervision from her on that one of my qualities. A while back there was a thread about learning to work on vehicles from our fathers. Along with multiple cuss words I also learned from him not to have sensitive people around during such events.

In the winter, the bike goes on the lift up to the ceiling, can still park both vehicles in the garage. And it's so nice working on the bike at eye level. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,81591.msg831544.html#msg831544

All finished and installed. Works good. Is there more to the attachment of the upright to the wall and floor than is visible from this photo? Is there an attachment point higher up? It seems to me to have a lot of leverage on the wall and I don't trust light concrete block walls. The lift is a really nice piece of work. Dan That my friend, is a nice piece of work. Gives me some ideas on how I might improve my own creation..............
