J Hendrix................... Scuse me while I kiss this guy

Bob Dylan........... The ants are my friends, they're blowing in the wind

Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm six feet four

First of all, all of those John Fogarty songs were/are great tunes...and I guess I am not hopeless, 'cause I found this pretty funny 2funny
I'm sure many are in the same boat....particularly with songs from that era, what we heard and sang along with was not what was actually written and being sung by the artist. Could go for years "memorizing" a favorite tune and have some of the words completely wrong. I even remember road trips with the daughters when they were young and we'd always play music and sing along.... a couple of their favorites were Takin' Care of "Biscuits" by BTO, and  Down at the "Cheeto-Paw" by Van Morrison...never had the inclination to correct them...good times Smiley

Fogarty had lots of good stuff,, but his drawl at times made the lyrics hard.

Reminds me of my son - sings about Sam Stone's "Hole in his pocket where the money goes."
I said hey man get it right, you're missing the point, he came back from the nam a heroin addict the hole is in his arm - still sings it his way.  Oh well.  I can't hear that tune w/o tearing up.  I know some veterans, that's their story.

Fogerty defined the genre "swamp rock".  Still some of my fav tunes.

I'm a big fan of CCR. By the way, if you ever get to Branson, Mo. there is a tribute show for CCR who does a great job. cooldude
