I am sure he does love the president, but when he expected to have access to  him without having to go thru the chief of staff, well Mr Kelly had a problem with that...

I'm losing faith that he can pull it off, but what do I know.......

Everyone has been wrong about Trump before.  From "he'll never be POTUS" to "He's in with the Russians".  All dead wrong.

But his inability to get a hold on his staff  and leaks, and the little lies they tell when there's nothing there to lie about anyway (it's like a reflex, lie first and retract later when it turns out to be nothing) make me question whether he really can pull it off.

The investigation into Russia collusion is still ongoing. Dead wrong ? Maybe we will see. Having dictated the false story about Jr's meeting doesn't look too good.

Months and months, by many investigators, NOTHING so far.

Looks like a good chance the Russian group that put out the terribly FALSE and SLANEROUS info about Trump, before the election, may well have been paid by the Clinton Campaign!  There would be true collusion!

How much do we hear about this on main stream media?  Nothing. Sweep it under the rug.

Not proven yet, but links are showing up.  More links than ANY Trump/Russia Collusion has.

There are certain people, including the media that want to make sure this man fails. Or, they degredate him at every word. I'm kinda with a couple of you on this. What Chris said is kinda my opinion as well. What G-Man says isn't too far off either.

He plays against a stacked deck daily. But, some of it he brings on himself with his stupid twitter response to every mouse fart that is said about him. He needs to quit taking everything personal and dump ALL twitter usage. The media hovers on twitter like a buzzard on a road kill.

Randy, with all due respect. If Trump Jr. had a meeting with Russian operatives about them giving their campaign dirt on Clinton, that is illegal. If Sr. put out a false story of it being about orphans being adopted, that is an attempt at cover up. Horse crap ? I think not.

Some of it, yes, is childish.  But he uses tweets to get things out that the media won't.  That's the benefit of it.  Now, does the negative outway the positive?

And where did you get your law degree?

According to Alan Dershowitz, it is not illegal and that nothing that those on the left have been declaring is illegal really is illegal.

What Gary posted is what I understand too Rob. Where and who says any of it was illegal? Show me the Law.
I can claim owning a motorcycle is illegal and shout about it all day long,, but if its not defined in law then its not.
Surely you are not naive enough to think that most presidential candidates do not find dirt on their opponents? How many of them have been investigated or even questioned.
I get really fed up with all these claims with no proof or even law to back it up other than hearsay.

Further,, if Trump Jr got the dirt where is the proof that he used it? If someone gets dirt and never uses it what has he done wrong?  NOTHING

I will provide a link when I go to lunch. But for now, it is illegal to receive ANYTHING of value from a foreign source in a campaign. Taking info from a citizen about an opponent is legal, taking it from a foreign national is not. You would agree that the hacked info the Russians had was of value ?

The statute in question is 52 USC 30121, 36 USC 510 — the law governing foreign contributions to US campaigns. There are two key passages that apply here. This is the first:

A foreign national shall not, directly or indirectly, make a contribution or a donation of money or other thing of value, or expressly or impliedly promise to make a contribution or a donation, in connection with any Federal, State, or local election.

I agree, the value is defined by no specific interpretation,  just another witch hunt, and could you imagine the public perception of Trump without his tweets and just going by the medias interpretation, granted many are uncalled for but at least we get to hear from the other side.

Value would be anything of worth. As far as the law goes, it matters not whether it was used. As to the unanswered questions, that will be up to the Special Prosecutor, the Senate, and the Courts to decide.

If its not used, how is it of any value? And it does matter if it was used. I have some personal experience with the legal system that if we ever meet I will tell you. Does owning a gun mean I am guilty of killing someone? Far as I know Trump Jr was not being elected to anything and certainly is not a politician. I bet we all would be surprised if they went back 20 years and investigated them all.
So far everything I see is accusations with little to back it up. Seems like a gigantic smear campaign from a bunch of sore losers.

Jr. was part of the campaign. The entire campaign is subject to these laws. If I receive $100 from you but don't spend it, it doesn't lessen the value of the $100. As far as the unanswered questions. Mueller seems to be running a tight ship. I'm sure the questions will be answered at the end of the investigation.

It was admitted that NO INFO about Clinton was exchanged. None. So, where is value?  Look at all the money Clintons got from foreign governments and "operatives".  You think not one thin dime was used in the campaign, or with the expectation of "favors" in the Clinton Presidency?

If not, why did donations dry up as soon as she was defeated?

I guess we will see. I do not care if it was Trump himself, someone has to determine if there was value. You seem to have already decided it was. Good thing you are not the judge.
Seems to me its nothing but sore losers who are now all of a sudden getting so anal about the law, when for the last who knows how many elections and administrations have cared less, long as they won.
One thing I have learned,, you piss in any large business cornflakes, weather you are right or wrong, they can take you to court with any false allegation they want. You may or may not win your case in the end, but they can financially ruin you and your life based on nothing but false allegations. I have seen it happen.

As to the campaign,, I would love to see these same butt sniffers go back and apply the same scrutiny to the Obama and Clinton administrations.

Maybe some of our resident barristers can weigh in here.

I believe that your definition of "VALUE" is a very loose one in this instance.

My belief is that "VALUE" as defined by the law in this case would be defined as "Monetary Value" only.

Hence the complete title of the statute:

11 CFR § 110.20 - PROHIBITION ON CONTRIBUTIONS, DONATIONS, EXPENDITURES, INDEPENDENT EXPENDITURES, AND DISBURSEMENTS BY FOREIGN NATIONALS (52 U.S.C. 30121, 36 U.S.C. 510).

As for the question of succeeding, in my opinion he already has.  I don't keep close tabs on the bits and pieces of the "news" but from what I've heard he hasn't nominated any blazing liberal alleged judges to the Supreme Court.  If the media and others manage to remove him from office we will be given an even more conservative first executive.  Whatever happens for me is a win-win.

Just for the lulz I'd love to see this happen:

-Trump resigns.
-Pence becomes president.
-Pence appoints Trump as his vice president.
-Pence issues a blanket pardon for Trump, his family and campaign workers for any crimes they did or did not commit.
-Pence resigns.
-Trump becomes president.
-Trump appoints Pence as his vice-president.
-The number of liberals in this nation goes down dramatically as a large percentage of them spontaneously combust in a fit of impotent rage.

So, I wonder what the general consensus will be if, and when, Mueller connects all the dots and provides undeniable proof of trump and his minions getting a bit too cozy with the Russkys.

How will it be defended?

My God, I can't even imagine the howling uproar if the other side had pulled this crap.

He's a joke, and I don't mean funny.
