"I wasn’t in the mood for his attitude...simply because I already had one of my own...one that was thrown at me on the road...the very same one that was responsible for me plunking my fat butt on the hot concrete and digging around in my machine’s nethers with a knife."

Last Friday evening on the return drive from Boone NC.

Somewhere between Boone and I 40 it's pouring biblically.

My 14 passenger bus wipers are whipping like a mares tail before a hurricane hits.

A stop light on red and opposite me is a 50cc scooter with 2 young guys aboard.

Each wearing a brain bucket, Shorts, T shirt and tennis shoes.

Each laughing like a mad man.

It's all about the attitude. cooldude

Let me tell you about some attitude I got during our InZane trip this year, also involving tire piercing.

On the Thursday of Inzane, I had planned taking Levi with me over Beartooth Pass and returning on the Chief Joseph Highway.  I saw the forecast for Red Lodge, MT, which is at the east end of Beartooth Pass, called for 80% POP (rain) all day.  I figured 80% chance of rain at 5000 feet probably means 100% chance of something, likely snow, at 10,000+ feet over the Pass.  I decided it would be a good day to load the family in the minivan and head for the Little Bighorn Battlefield instead.  I made the right choice, as others have reported their experiences of dropping their bikes after being caught in snow on Beartooth that day.

When we were getting out of the van, I noticed the right front tire looked a little low.  After touring the site, I had a better look and saw the screw in the middle of the tread, then measured the tire pressure at ten PSI lower than it should be.  I was directed to an air hose at a nearby town, topped up the pressure and headed back towards Billings.  Sandra got on the phone and found a tire shop, Montana Tire Distributors, in Billings, that could take us right away, and would charge a reasonable $18.  When we got there, the van was in the shop within ten minutes.

When they had the tire fixed, the manager said, "You're all set."

"I'm ready to pay right now," said I.

"It's on us.  When you need new tires be sure to think of us, though."

"We're from Alberta.  It's unlikely we'll be here to buy tires."

"No problem.  We're glad to help on your trip."

That's the kind of attitude I can appreciate.

WOW!  WTF is the matter with some people?  Glad you were able to avoid a direct bottle-missile body shot.  Well handled all around!   cooldude

Attitudes. They’re important. They’re also contagious. They don’t have to be destructive.

It turns out…they’re also choices.

Very well said.  Good read.

Honestly, the bad ones, I believe, are a small percentage but they make a rather large impact.  It's good when we work to offset.
