Took a ride today down to the local Harley dealer to ride this new model on my yellow and cream standard wearing a safety green Valkyrie t shirt. Lots of people there a band playing free food and drink the whole deal. Before I could get to the front door 4 different people started conversations about my Valkyrie. I wasn't all that surprised for I have known for a long time many Harley riders admire and respect our Valkyries. Anyway finally got inside and filled out the paperwork for the test ride. Got on and rode and was quite pleasantly surprised this new Milwaukee 8 motor is very nice forget the term slow Harley this bike can move out plenty of power. Will I buy it? Probably not at $23,500 plus tax it would stretch the budget thin.  I must say Harley has really improved their product and I wish them well.

Haven't ridden one but, I'm glad they are finally putting something on two wheels that has some guts.
HD has a big challenge to overcome if they ever want to stay with a flat six.   Reliability just being one of the challenges.

Best wait till next year or better the year after.  They have problems to work on on these Milwaukeee 8's, but I am hearing good things about them.

I've been to some of the Harly test ride events and just didn't want to deal with all the controlled test rides they hold. You go through all that prep stuff get set up in a group, leave in a group following the lead rider controlling the ride speed and route. Not for me. I went in the the Honda dealer here. Asked to ride the new Valk,  asked for my license, took a picture, asked if I had a helmet, said no, went to the rack said does this fit. Off I went, drove it around the area for a while and brought it back. Rest is history. I bought it. cooldude

I recently just bought a new road king in laguna orange color,,I have been on the ultras for the last 10 years decided i wanted to get back to basics like the valk tourer i had many years ago,,this road king is the best,,with this 107 milwakee 8, it gets down the road effortlessly, it starts to breathe hard about 110MPH but rarely run over 90 anyway. it has a counterbalance in the engine and vibration is minimal and none while cruising...

If, you're happy, I'm happy for you.

I haven't ridden one so I can only take your word for it but, I question your definition of "mimimal".
But then, I ride a Valkyrie so, I may have a totally different definition.   Wink

minimal means the after you take off there is almost no vibration at all, smooth as silk,, at idle it will shake a little bit because the die hards need that shake... and I rode a valk from 97 to 2013,, just wanted something newer..and different,,

Depends on the Honda dealer in my area.  I will NOT buy from one of them being the closest.  They require good riding 'attire' meaning NO tennis shoes or shorts, must have pants and something besides tennis shoes.  Plus, they will NOT allow test rides on ANY crotch rockets AT ALL.  But, if I wanted to take out a rocket III or other fast cruiser,  I can.  STUPID RULE.  They are overpriced anyways by 1-2 grand on all their bikes IMO as well thinking they own the market when there are 3 other Honda dealers, just further away say 20-50 more miles away.

Three bikes

« Reply #10 on: August 25, 2017, 06:01:04 PM »

HD has a ride program here to support the military.  You start at one dealership on one ride, go 45 miles to the next and switch bikes.  Go 45 miles to dealer #3, jump on ride #3, and ride back to the start.  Three good long test rides in one day!

Since I'm a retiree and MC safety instructor for the Corps, I get to play along on 13 Sep!  I'll let you know how it goes!
