This is just in europe right now, USA next?

https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Companies/The-motorcycle-becoming-thing-of-the-past?page=1

Honda Motor, the top maker, with a market share of over 40%, has made 24 of its 74 models compatible with the incoming environmental and safety requirements. Of the remaining models, the Super Cub small bike and the 1800cc Goldwing are being killed off for now; they are to be reintroduced after they can be made regulation-compliant.

One of the more prominent rumors I keep seeing about the next 'wing is that it'll have a 4 cylinder electric hybrid engine...

Guess we'll see soon(ish)...

Seems like that would make it pretty easy to comply with the emissions regulations ?

I heard a guy I sat next to yesterday while drinking an adult beverage tell me the new wing was going to be made back in Marysville, OH.  I told him I doubted that but sure hope it is true.  The gentleman came in asking who has that Valkyrie outside.  He proceeded to show me some pics of his 97 black Valkyrie that is triked with Moto Trike kit.  Wish he had brought it.

last I read it will be an option.  std engine still 1800.  the front end is suppose to be completely different design, no traditional forks.

There is a guy named Rocky on the GL forums that has some interesting insight from being a friend of an invitation group of 30 wing owners that got to see the new Wing at a Honda Facility a short time ago.

If one wants they can read it here.

http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38432

He stated at a later date in this forum that  no current Goldwing owner recognized what they were seeing ( they were not told in advance what model it would be ) it is that radical a  design, but they loved it.  Further from this guy it it will be a 4 cylinder engine and possibly an electric hybrid option.    Oh well - time will tell.

I hope it's amazing and causes a bunch of existing Wing riders to want to upgrade, flooding the market with cheaper used ones.

Although I'm worried they'll crap the bed and release something most riders won't want. I've read about a DCT/automatic transmission too...not something most riders would want, I don't think.

2 very interesting pictures in in that link, but the one on the right is the new 2018 Star Venture from Yamaha.

Good looking but with all the add on's I wouldn't want it. It is like having a car with every dodad possible and will be spending lot's of time in the shop. A basic motorcycle is enough for me.

How cheap you lookin???

Got a '14 in the classifieds, > $2k under Blue Book...  Wink

Personally, I would like to see a new 6 speed Goldwing where 6th is a true overdrive gear... bring the rpm down to the 2000-2300 range at 70 mph.

Also, I'd like to see second option with the Flat-4 engine... let's say, 1200cc range.

If you were in Canada, or closer, and that was in Canadian dollars, I'd be all over that. But $15000 is almost $19000 Canadian, probably more than I'll be spending. Then there's the import duties, inspections, plane ticket, etc. I'm thinking more around the $15000 CAD area.

Saving up the $$ now til spring. How that goes will determine how new I go. Hoping to get a 12+ but if I were to find a low mike 06-10 for a good price, I'd probably jump on it.

Or...if Honda releases a plain Jane model with a 4 or 6 cyl, cruise and full luggage and no other gadgets for $20,000, I'd buy a new one. Don't see that happening though.  Grin

I think you guys should read this again.

The writer is in Tokyo Japan talking about Japans domestic motor cycle environmental reg's being brought up to the same as the EU's Euro 4 standards.

It says nothing about killing off sales in Europe or the USA.  T.P.

I didn't even notice you were in Canada.   Grin

I'm not sure about up there, but around here you can usually find a few pre-2008 models at less than $10K USD.  I've seem them close to $5K when they have more than 60-70 K miles.

If you have patience, you can get some pretty good deals.

New Wing is to be unveiled in Milan in November and will have an option to meet the European standard.

The 4 cylidner hybrid is a rumored option, but the talk I've heard is the new Wing and F6B will have a larger displacement flat 6. The Full Wing with a 7 spd DCT and the F6B with a 6 spd manual. Motor driven reverse. All new chasis , like some 70-80 lbs lighter, completely new suspension system up front/ no fork but something similar to what BMW has on their K1600. Computer ride/suspension modes ,All new navigation .entertainment center etc....
