Here's an interesting fact.

Both locations are less than 850 miles for both Grumpy and Oss.

Now that should be enough info for a decent Serkle!!

Would that be a serkle or an ellipse?   Wink

A Serkle is an off kilter circle... it is not bound by the normal definition of a circle.

Second guess. Frankfort, Kentucky, 840 miles for OSS, 860 miles for Grumpy. Or Lexington

Narrowed it down to Lexington.

I'm even more confused now... I THOUGHT I had an idea based off of the newest info but it's way too close to Broussard to even be close to an Iron Butt...

It's under 1,200 miles from Ossing NY to Tampa FL, so it won't be the half way point between them, there's gonna be a lotta overlap.

Gonna go to bed and play with the data points given some more later while I pretend to work... Wink

Remember it's two locations... that could be causing your confusion.  If you draw the maps for each of the four start points, the overlap area should include both potential locations.

FYI, the locations are not the same distance from Oss and Grumpy.   The 800ish miles is for the site furthest away from each of them.

I plotted out all 4 data points, found the closest thing to a convergence point then plotted a point with an 85 miles circumference around that point. I still feel I'm off, but here's what I came up with using the latest hints:

You've still missed at least one of the two cities.  You need to draw the ellipse indicated by the president's latest statement and then just knock off the corners that are not withing your earlier maps.  Too much evidence can either narrow down the target or just simply add confusion.

Narrowed it down to Lexington.

Won't even begin to join in trying to figure out where but, it would be a wonderful experience for all if you're right.    I ride new twisties every time I go out in every direction from Frankfort.    For those interested in distilleries, there are (at last count) 7 distilleries within about 50 miles.    All of them are located on twisty roads.   The Bourbon Trail is not for the weak of heart.   Wink

Should this guess be correct, I'd be happy to help in anyway possible.   Just let me know.

From MY OWN past experience, going back to the same place is never as good as the first time.  Still had fun, but.........

Even if it's the next city over, at least it's a different hotel, different restaurants, different local roads, etc.  Makes for its own memories.

Just my 2 cents.

Wherever it is within that general area, I'm sure it will be a terrific time.

Right now I'll only give myself a 25% chance of having the magic combination of time and money to make it there.  It would probably be either a solo trip, or with Levi, if school is going well for him.  What will likely happen instead is a car trip to the west coast with all four of us; they deserve it.  If I can also do InZane XVIII, I'll be really happy.

LOL, I'm not certain I understand the complexity.  With what F6gal told you draw two circles one eight hundred miles from Ossining; one eight hundred miles from Tampa.  The resulting common ellipse contains both possible sites.  Since she told you each distance was the most (to the furthest) and that the were equivalent, well within 1 mile, in distance you can eliminate the middle of the serklipse.  How many reasonable possibilities can there be?

It's inclusive but by using a huge circle rather than an ellipse it contains a lot of ground that it doesn't need.   Smiley

But my earlier casting attempts kept allowing one or two of the specific prize fish I was after to get away, thus the bigger net to catch the specific fish I'm after.

Now that they've evidently been caught, I can work on a smaller, more efficient net to minimize catching the unwanted smaller, less tasty fish.

I truely enjoy the spirit that theVRCC shares.  I've already use a big net to capture time off for both dates and will use a smaller net when the details of hotel have been determined for Ground Zero

I know I'm new and never been to an Inzane (yet), but I've been several Honda Hoots in Knoxsville in years past. There is a lot of nice roads in that area.

Anybody ever thought about the Fontanna Village Resort and Marina in Fontana Dam, NC  as a possible location for Inzane ?

Lot's of facilities, meetings rooms etc, Nice rooms in the lodge and they also have a Campground, and a BUNCH of cabins (1 to 4 bedrooms) in the village as well as :

Complimentary Wi-Fi
Restaurants ( and Bar ! )
General Store and Gift Shops
Outdoor Pools and Lazy River
Disc Golf
Putt-Putt Golf
Marina
Fitness Center
Miles of On-Site Trails Suitable for Biking and Hiking

And of course it's easy access to all the mountain roads:

The Dragon
Cherohala Skyway
Moonshiners 28 (Deals Gap to Franklin or the Highlands)
The Devil's Triangle
Blue Ridge Parkway
Great Smoky Mountain National Park
Rt 64 East from Highlands to Lake Toxaway
or maybe a short ride over to Maggie Valley and the Wheels Thru Time cycle museum
or make the big loop from Fontana Village to Almond, Bryson City,  Cherokee,  up to 441, west back to Townsend and on to Walland, thru Happy Valley down to Chilhowee and South East back to Fontana Village

I don't know about being in a BIG City, but this place has PLENTY of room, and because of it's location and available facilities, it has been used by MANY Car Clubs and Motorcycle clubs for their events.

I could go on and on about this place, but if anyone is interested, check it out.
