I don't know why they need to legalize it.  It's been added to the water for 20 years anyway... how else can you explain (coastal) California?

It's one guy who has proposed the initiative. It still has to be ok'd by the sec. of state and then gather close to 400,000 signatures. Highly unlikely. Wink

I'd sign that petition if it came to me...  I'm a very firm believer that it's none of my business what another adults does or doesn't put into their own bodies.

A true libertarian position.  cooldude I'm not sure I would. The greater effect on the society at whole might be too dangerous.

Dude... You ever had magic mushrooms? The greater effect on society would be a few people rolling around in their lawn for a few hours, having a wonderful conversation with each other while admiring the intricate beauty inherent in the cosmos, going to sleep, then getting up and being productive members of society again the next day...

Is there a statute of limitations on admitting prior drug use ?  Wink Yes, I've indulged in shrooms and a few other hallucinogenic substances. Many can and would do as you say responsibly. But I also know many will get behind the wheel while on a trip. I hate to admit it but I did a few times. Driving while stoned after smoking a couple bong hits is one thing, driving while shrooming is another. I understand your position, and tend to agree with it philosophically. But, the real world circumstances may outweigh them.

I'll admit to no experience so my opinion is of little value here.

My gut says it's an escape from reality.   Some may need that, I don't know.

My gut also says that if you can't handle reality, you have no place in the real world.   So, stay where you want and do what you want, I don't consider it my business what adults do behind closed doors.

Then again, I also won't provide any sympathy or support to those who make bad decisions or take actions that result in them having issues they can't handle.   My experience as a manager of a production facility says that those who "escape reality" are also, not the most productive or reliable employees.   YMMV.

This all reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw in the 60's. In response for all the comments about drugs were for people that couldn't handle reality.

Reality is for people that can't handle drugs.

Sounds ok up front but the reality is it will be another head ache for cops and the legal system hence society in general.

Yes.

Instead of installing increasingly expensive bells, whistles, cam position sensors, black boxes and back up cameras, how about every new car get a medical device where you have to donate (and pass) a thumb stick of blood (drugs and alcohol scan), or the car won't start.  And if you test positive, the horn won't stop honking for 20 minutes, the police are remotely called with GPS location..... and you get 4 flat tires.

Don't have a clue what is beyond this reality.   Never crossed that border.   But, always wanted to join NASA.   Wink

But as I said, those I have worked with and employed who I either knew or suspected as users were almost always, less than desirable employees.   Lower production and much worse attendance records.      Again, I really don't care what anyone does unless it has an unwanted effect on others.   Then, I care.

NO argument from me.
