To be good, and to do good, is all we have to do.

I was picking my son up from school and parallel parked (thank God) behind a sedan. I notice the sedan backing up so I beeped my loud air horn and the driver stopped. I looked down to shut the bike off and bam. I was moving backwards, faster than I would have liked and doing everything possible to keep the bike upright. After 5 or 6 feet I stopped moving. The sedan then moved forward a couple of feet and stopped.
I put the side stand down and went to inspect for damage. Luckily my tire made contacted with the bumper. No damage.
The driver didn't get out of the car. So I walked up to the drivers side window to find a woman that was surprised I was standing there. She rolled her window down and just looked at me. I said "you just backed into me!". Even more surprised she said sorry, and explained that her rear view mirror had previously fallen off and wasn't aware anything had happened. Frustrated I walked away.
They say with a bike it's not if there will be an accident, but when. If this is my accident I will take it!
Ride safe ya'll.

You should haves taken photos of the situation just in case any unseen damage comes to light.
Sounds like she hit you fairly hard.

My response would be to call the cops, tell what she did (and no apparent damage) but claim you smelled alcohol on her breath and think she's drunk and a rolling menace (in a school yard). That'd get a quick response.
Damage or not, back into me like a damn fool in broad daylight, and you get to to do a bunch of field sobriety tests (in front of a crowd) and blow the breathalyzer (humble pie).
And an equipment violation for the mirror. (remember turning around and actually looking?)
Idiocy should have consequences.
If she didn't see you on your bike........ she might've backed over a school child!!
Rant off.
Good thing you were (likely) in neutral. She hits you in gear, and the bike probably falls/folds.

Totally agree. She's lucky she backed into you. I would have been a little more excited - and certainly wouldn't have been able to just walk away.

Many years ago, a beautiful blond girl asked me out for a Sadee Hawkins dance and date. I consented (duh!). Her dad (a Ford exec) gave her the use of his spanking new bright red Continental MK III. He made it clear she was to be the only driver. The date was great and after the dance, she took me out for pizza. Leaving the restaurant in the dark, she asked if I would drive because she was tired. I reminded her of her dad's warning, but agreed, and drove as carefully as possible toward home.
We were sitting at a red light stopped, waiting to turn for home, when a woman rear ended the car and tore a great big hole in the big spare tire cutout in the trunk (no one was hurt). The cop showed up and we all got in his backseat. I told the short story of the accident, which was self evident as I would not allow anyone to move the cars for traffic. It was a cool fall evening and with the windows up, you could not help but notice the woman reeked of strong whisky, and she was quietly sobbing as she admitted to rear ending us. The cop said he was going to write her for failing to stop within an assured clear distance ahead, and I spoke right up and asked about the stench of alcohol in the car... and the cop told me to shut up kid. She got a complete pass.
My date was afraid of telling her father I was driving, but I insisted we tell the truth, which would become apparent when he read the accident report. Despite my best efforts to explain our complete innocence in the accident, he was predictably outraged about his torn up car, I was invited to immediately leave the premises and never return, and she was ordered inside and grounded for a month.
Thus began my long (and repeatedly reaffirmed) attitude about lousy woman drivers (not ALL of them, but a lot of them).
Thus, whenever someone does something so stupid and inexplicable in a motor vehicle, I default to thinking they must be under the influence of drugs or alcohol (or cell phones).
I remind everyone that making a false police report or official statement is a criminal offense (and also against the Biblical admonition against bearing false witness), but saying you think you smelled alcohol on someone's breath in a short encounter is not something that can ever be proven as an intentional lie. Especially in the face of an accident or incident which is so simple and stupid as to present any other rational explanation.

Far as alcohol goes when I do imbibe I do NOT operate a motor vehicle til a minimum of 8 hrs after the Last drink. I wasn't ALWAYS that considerate. Jess-in the new Lincoln scenario you laid out Maybe the female in question was a friend or relative? Or Maybe-more likely-she was gonna show her appreciation at a later date? But I digress! RIDE SAFE.

That's why it's law to have a rear view mirror.

yah, NO rearview mirror, get the police to show up and if that person leaves, at least get the license plates for the police to stop by their house or snap a pic of the vehicle with your cell phone before they take off.
consider yourself lucky I guess, but wanna bet that lady will do it again and again to someone else and in the future, those undeserving people could have been spared by YOU taking action NOW.
A-hole who hit my new truck in 2010 rear ending me doing 1K in damage vs. his 3K+ in his junker car at 15 mph or so lied to the police says had insurance but NEVER did. I got the money out of him but took ten long months and a court appearance in small claims court as well as call to DMV to get his license taken away. For ONLY 1K, he got off very lucky but I was persistent to nail the a-hole for he had NO insurance in WI which was the LAW. All this dropping off our kids at school in the parking lot it happened, both in the same class as well. Our kids are friends, but not us adults.
