anyone spending much more than 20K on a cycle ought to have their head examined.

I see HUGE deep discounts on leftover carryover models on this HD at msrp over 40K - OUCH!!  Shocked

O.o

I wouldn't spend that on a car...

Half that is the most I've ever spent on a vehicle, and that was the one and only time I bought a brand new car in my life!

Me too Serk.  One new car in my life $20K (and I helped the wife buy her one new truck, $20K).  And only one new bike in my life, $10K.

And that new '03 Dodge just turned 30K miles a couple months ago.

But hey, its a 117.  For a couple of grand I can get my Vic Cross Country done up into a 116 and the motor will not leak oil.

Wow the price is unbelievable, my friend just bought a F6B out the door for 16k. I don't understand how they came up with that number since on a price comparison its way to much for what you get. But it will drive up used prices, the new Wings are 24k.

I know it is not all about speed or quickness, BUT, anyone riding that gold nugget will be gunning for some competition. Pull up by it on your 19yr old Valkyrie with Attic Rats number done to it and burst someone's bubble. Anyone buying that bike is not concerned about handle bar comfort, just profiling and bragging about what it cost.

My first house with first wife was just under 20G. Bought a year old 76 Olds Toranado for $7600.00. I'm thinkin my new-73-left over 500/4 Honda was under 3G. IF I had 42G-i don't-I'd be lookin at near new pick up trucks. I wouldn't spend 42G on ANY new M/C. Even IF I had the money. RIDE SAFE.

that is different!   Shocked

I do not necessarily agree with the statement if 'ya got it spend it' since there most likely will be a day when you will NEED the money for something actually NEEDED.  When my uncle died when I was very young, I remember he was the captain of a big military ship of some sort and he went down/died with the ship.  My aunt became instantly rich (like 1 million dollars or more rich way back in the 1970s).  She and her new idiot, deadbeat husband at the time blew it all on a new corvette, RV, home, etc., etc., etc.  and became poor (bankrupt) in a matter of a few years.  Those are the people I do not feel one bit sorry for when she could have lived the next 20-30 years comfortably with no money worries easily.

I just do not see the sense to spend on a NEW cycle of any kind when even a 2-3 year old one will be probably 3-8K or more off of a brand new one with probably under 10K miles.   My brother did that in 1985 buying a new suzuki gs550L cycle for I believe 3500-3800 bucks or so.  He ended up putting on 10K miles letting it sit (I put on over 1/2 those miles as my first cycle age 18  2funny) and sold it 15+ years later for 500 bucks since it ran like crap.  In 1989 I bought a used 1984 honda magna for 1500, kept it 10 years, and sold it for 1500.  Which makes more sense?  My neighbor 10+ years ago shelled out with tons of mods on his 2003 ultra classic well over 15K (am sure much more than that with performance upgrades), and still has not sold it for his asking price of 8500, lucky to get 8K out of it with 45K miles or so on it being a dime a dozen way too many out there for sale.
