There is always a way if one is willing to take responsibility for themselves. I grow tired of this poor me poor us crap that seems to be so prevelent anymore. Is this another form of entitlement?

Only if you choose to make it so......

The world isn't all black and white. I can't understand the thinking that these people in their teens and early twenties 'should do the right thing' and go to a country where they've never been, might not know anyone, might not speak the language and apply fpr citizenship. A process that takes lots of time and money, time they have. Money, probably not so much.

No need to apply for citizenship. They were born in a foreign country. They are already citizens. No hassle at all.

This is an excellent example of what happens when a problem is ignored and allowed to fester.

In this case the problem of illegal immigration has been allowed to fester for decades.

The problem must be addressed at some point and I applaud President Trump for making an effort to do so.

He has put the issue back into the hands of congress where it belongs.

Unfortunately, they will probably continue to do nothing about it.

I'm not in favor of automatic deportation for those who were brought here illegally by their parents as children.

We shouldn't however lose sight of the fact that they are no longer children and many haven't been for quite sometime.

At age 18 citizens of this country become legally responsible for their actions and non citizens should be as well.

Congress should pass a law that provides a clear path to citizenship for these "Kids".

There should be a time limit on how long they have to complete this path and any that fail to do so should be deported.

Any of them  that has not proven theirselves to be a productive member of society should also be deported.

Furthermore, there should be a cutoff date as to who is eligible for this program.

Otherwise it will be an open ended path around the normal legal means to obtain citizenship.

The military option for an expedited path to citizen is still open to most of them as well.

This path existed when I served back in the 1980's and 90's.

It is a good and honorable way for someone to earn the right to become a US citizen.

If you are willing to put your life on the line for a country you deserve to be a citizen of that country if you so desire.

But just to say, "I've been living here so I deserve to stay." Doesn't cut the mustard!

I did some looking into the military service route, and it turns out that non-citizens can certainly serve (and have done so in great numbers ever since the civil war).  However, in our modern era, a non-citizen still has to hold a green card or some other lawful way to be in the country to enlist.  So none of these dreamers could have ever served as they have always been purely illegal.

It's too bad someone (Congress) didn't fix this so they could serve (as a path to citizenship) a couple decades ago (assuming they could be vetted out as otherwise acceptable recruits).  This could still be remedied, but many are past the age requirements now (too old).  An (honorable service) enlistment in exchange for a path to citizenship would be a very fair deal and a good way to solve the problem for many.

And 3fan4life makes Very Good sense so ya just KNOW the political types in deception central will NOT even come close providing the "do" anything at all. Even with Trump as POTUS I have yet to regain any faith nor do I put any credence with our deception central "elected officials" GAG and double GAG. One wonders the WHEN of "elected officials" G and D G-getting concerned bout the very folks that elected them. Rose colored glasses whistling in the wind shoveling kaka against the tide.  Roll Eyes RIDE SAFE.

That is a solution I could live with.  Are you running for congress this next year?  On second thought you make to much sense, and we can not have any of that.  Got to keep the swamp teaming with small brain reptiles.
