Also, jam as much potable water into the frig and freezer as possible to take up every bit of available space.  When power goes out, it retains the cold temps much longer than empty space.

Assuming you are in the path of near certain power outages, probably not a bad idea to crank your regular frig/freezer temperature settings all the way down as the storm approaches as well.

Back when we used to lose power regularly in hot summer months, I used to crank my house AC down to COLD as the storms approached.  If we lost power, it just took that much longer to heat the house up during the outage.

And if the storm is coming lower temp in freezer as much as possible.

Myself, rather than worry if the food is good or not, I just have survival food that is good for 25yrs. Just need good water to cook it, 8 minutes and food is served.  Check this site out, look at the top and they will send you a free sample.  Most important, if you do get food, keep it your business, your neighbors find out, they will clean you out if they get desperate.

Sure hope Irma slows down at a 3 to a 2 soon.  Cannot imagine coming home to what is left of your home in ruins.

I am sure the neighbor won't walk up to you with his hands in his pocket, more than likely they would anticipate you having a weapon. I judge this from the 2003 eastern blackout, the third day people were getting a little concerned, almost in the direction of being desperate.  The third day fortunately the electricity can on just after noon.  Just my observation and opinion. Point is just keep your business, your own business, sharing is a good thing, but losing everything because you have a big mouth, may be a problem.

No worries. It was a dumb joke. Shearing- removing hair by cutting. Sharing- helping your neighbors.  Smiley
