Wondering if I'm the last one left who only accesses the board from a desktop PC? I've finally ditched the used flip phones and have a phone large enough for me to read without using glasses. It's a PIA to carry with me but the great camera and bigger screen seem to be worth it. What are the rest of you doing? I can certainly see the advantage of not waiting on the motel's computer to open up when you're at a VRCC gathering and want to catch up.

I'll sometimes read the board from my phone but almost never post from it, almost all interaction is done from a "real" computer with a keyboard.

(Still wish we had Tapatalk integration to make the board work better from a mobile device, but that's all the beating of that deceased equine that I will partake in at this time Wink )

Laptop - I likewise have ditched desktop computers at home. The laptop may stay at the same place 99% of the time, but we can take them with us on vacation.

tried a tablet - hint - you get what you pay for. If you want a tablet that can replace a computer - it's going to cost as much as a computer.

Have considered Chomebooks and the like - haven't  broken out of using a real computer yet (I'm in the IT business).

I access very few things webwise from my android phone. personal email, fuelly, some news / weather / Google maps / gas buddy is about it.

Only desktop.  Nice to see the 24 inch screen and I can crank out 80 wpm since I was 12 with one, and move site to site very fast.   I have no interest being a prisoner to a phone like so many folks I see walking around these days. I use my phone mostly for business, which right now is a bunch.   I suppose I am a dinosaur of sorts, probably one of those docile plant eater stegosauruses.

Pretty much the same for me.   I like using my phone for it's original intended purpose, talking to someone.    I have posted a few times using my phone but it's a rare occurrence.

I blame it on a genetic defect, fat fingers and aging eyesight.   Embarrassed

Desktop only for me. Don't own a tablet or laptop, and my phone is a prepaid flip phone that's only turned on when I'm making a call.

Used the phone for the first time during recovery from Irma, otherwise only my desktop PC. I only recently picked up a good used smart phone due to my flip phone going south. I really don't care for the smart phone so use it for its intended purpose; make/take calls, once in a while might text if I think it's important enough....which is rather seldom.

In court or at lunch by myself I may use my ancient SamsungS3 on their wifi or just read a book on my kindle  (reading the John Wells series book 8 now)

I didn't vote (yet). I use a Laptop. Since all I do is browse the net and email, no reason to have a high powered desktop taking up all the room.

A Laptop is portable (as long as my battery still works), I take it on my trips. Gives me access to the PDF manual in case any repairs needed. HDMI output, so I can stream to the TV.

Best of all, I'm able to sit beside my wife and browse, and spend time with her instead of another room/at the computer desk.

Just recently replaced my desk top with a laptop. Screen in the phone too small for reading posts on the board. Yeah-I know-expand the screen then I have to move it constantly. Old eyes old guy old ideas. Got a better deal on the laptop than I could on a new desktop. Course I wanna take it-laptop-with me gotz ta discombobulate all the wires.  2funny And the more apps in the phone the quicker the battery depletes-whether I use those apps or not!  uglystupid2 I go back to when sputnik was THE thing!  Roll Eyes Progress?? laptop, but mine is 8-9 years old or older still on windows vista and some missing keypads.  Still runs but until it gives me more issues, saving my money for the newer and much liked less operating systems I do not know.  I have a backup 150 dollar samsung laptop to use if and when this one clunks out with newer operating system on it bought on blackfriday deal.

I doubt many laptops make it past 10 years use??

One 'puter is more than enough for me. Switched to a laptop [ Macbook Pro] quite a few years ago just because the old desktop was getting old and I wanted access when and where i travelled.
The only reason I got a newer phone [ still a dumb one] was so it would work thru the truck. I still don't check it very often. I'm one of those guys that gets irritated at people constantly checking/playing with the phone.

Surprising number on Desktops!  Kickin' is Ol' School!  cooldude

I've been using a laptop for quite a while... I couldn't really say WHEN I changed from desktop to laptop.

My current laptop is slowly dying.  The screen has gone bad... I can read text, but pictures are horrible.

I'm debating going to an android tablet next time around.  The only downside I can see would be typing on a touch screen.  Maybe I can find a tablet with a plug in keyboard???  I'm gonna have to do a little research.

You can get bluetooth keyboards that should work with a tablet.

I use an external keyboard and mouse (USB) on my laptop, and have an external monitor hooked up as a 2nd display. I also primarily use ethernet, not Wifi.

Us laptop users are probably all listed under "desktop"...

They for sure have pretty big (11 inch) android tablets with bluetooth keyboards.

I'm a Linux user and don't care for windows, but I'd consider a Microsoft surface
tablet or laptop... that new surface laptop seems pretty hot, I'm not sure how
easy it is to load Linux on, though...

I use my 70 inch tv as my monitor, which is hooked into my desktop pc in an entertainment cabinet, via HDMI. I also have a wireless keyboard and mouse that sits next to my lounger. I can go from computer, to satellite TV, to jailbroken media box, to DVD player without getting up from chair. And it all runs through a surround sound system. Now if I could just teach Charlie to fetch a beer from the frig.  Cheesy

Also have Echo Dot and Leviton light switches. That way I just tell Alexa to turn off lights and she does.

I like my Android tablet a lot and use it daily.

A Bluetooth keyboard is definitely the way to go.

There are some things that just don't work well on an Android tablet though.

My next tablet will probably be Windows based.

Desk preferred.  I nursed along the last one for years, replacing motherboards et al as they puked until it got to the point that most of the internals weren't upgradable until all upgraded at once. So bit the bullet and bought a current machine from Micro Center.  Installed still good gaming graphics board, extra optical drive, HD ports & HD's in it for B/U's and keep them unconnected most of the time (they don't fail if unpowered). This lets me use the 1080P monitor so I have lots of desktop resolution, fast 8 CPU's and huge RAM. Also browse on the laptop on trips or in bed but it's much less powerful / fast. Phone - rarely, just reading.  No tablet. That's a soln in search of a problem in my book.

Roidfingers, sounds like my home theater system - but don't surf much there. Do access Youtube, Pandora, etc.  The little Bluetooth keyboard seems insufficient when used to full sized in the office, for typing. Have Samsung Smart TV, Samsung smart DVD unit, 2 Dish tuners (4 channels), microwave wifi (Rise broadband), jailbroken Fire TV, Torrent Day to access unreleased movies, Samsung surround sound with subwoofer, and VPN for protection.

PC  only , no smart , tablet  or laptop  , still using a flip phone  most all for business  , no need for a smart phone  as I do not do social stuff  on the run , it can all wait til I get home .
Wife has a laptop that we take with us on trips .
1 year ago she got a Iphone  so  I am wondering if  we need a laptop as all motels have PCs

6 weeks ago we were in Santa Fe  NM  and used her  Iphone  for directions as we drove around - we left if on  giving us directions back to the hotel  - it really helped us understand the city and never felt lost .

And , yes , I  will be getting a Iphone  sometime soon because it  may be necessary   to fully function  with clients in my business , although , it sure is nice NOT having one  , that's the real luxury , not having a smart phone
