Mel and I rode with some friends down to the DRU (Dragon Round Up) Friday and spent the weekend with a bunch of excellent riders/excellent people in Corydon Indiana.
Steve and Gavin scouted out the best Indiana roads I've ever been on. Absolutely amazing, motorcycle nirvana roads cutting through forests, farmlands and river bottoms. Cool shadows, bright sunshine, very little traffic. Absolutely stunning riding. I'll be riding these roads in my dreams for the rest of my life.
I cannot possibly thank Steve, Diana, Gavin, Karen and whoever else helped with this ride enough. Truly a great time.
Our Valk rolled over to 119,000 miles on the way down and in spite of being 20 years old she performed flawlessly for us I’m happy to say.
There were a lot of Valkyries, but there were also many other makes and models there. Thankfully, this rally (and all Valk related gatherings I’ve been to) is about sharing time with friends, making new friends, being in the wind, sharing the brotherhood (and sisterhood) of the road and enjoying this gorgeous earth. Nobody there is intimidated or offended by people riding other brands or models of bikes although we may rib each other some. All riding groups could and should learn from that.
Friday and Saturday evenings were spent visiting with friends, eating, sitting around a fire, looking at the bikes and seeing what states the riders had ridden in from.
As always, such times remind to thank my Maker for blessing me with my wonderful wife Melody, my friends & my family. And for letting me live for a while in this time and place on this amazing planet we call home.
Life Rocks Indeed!

If you don't know where your going any road will take you there George Harrison
When you come to the fork in the road, take it Yogi Berra (Don't send it to me C.O.D.)

The DRU is a wonderful event, IMHO the focus is on the right things with a ride added in for fun. I always try to make the DRU, the camaraderie is the event focus. We all love our bikes and I enjoy the hell out of riding mine and seeing others but, I go for the wonderful people that attend.
That my friends, is what gets me to an event. While I enjoy a spirited ride now and then as much as anyone, almost every time one occurs, someone ends up dumping a bike and getting hurt. My "spirited rides" are always when I'm solo or, when I'm riding with someone that I've shared a lot of wind with and know how they ride. Large group rides should be done at the speed limit or, at the capability of average riders. I consider myself an average rider. This is how Steve leads his rides and I fully support his method.
