We wanted to show the boys how they can make furniture from trees and stuff that are readily available.  So the kids put this table together (after I pre cut and pre drilled all the pieces).  Next we will make the chess pieces out of nuts and bolts.

Is a really fun project.

Very good investment, and a very cool project. cooldude
I used to make a "stove eye" as a kid when camping to hold a pot or skillet off the fire while cooking a meal out of green tree limbs.

Boy Scouts was a big part of my earlier youth, in part where I learned to be a decent person and also be resourceful and help to look after myself. Learned a lot from some great volunteers...just like you and your wife here. Good on you cooldude

OK, I finally got all the pieces from Tractor Supply to make the chess men.  Ill take them all apart and this Friday the boys will assemble each pieces and then super glue them together and it will be finished.

I remember this one time fondly when I was leading. we were supposed to be doing this bird house project, then tying them up in a tree. I tied a rope to mine and all of a sudden they wanted to learn how to tie knots. we never did start to make a bird house that day, spent then next hr and a half tying different knots. lol.

Yeah we spend lots of hours trying to teach the boys how to tie knots.  Some like it some seem to not like it so much
