Could be trouble... Could also be an opportunity to turn the company around...
Time will tell I 'spose.

Long time ago-before I was a Teamster-I was a member of the I A M. A good dues paying upstanding member and proponent of the I A M til we went on strike for my first time. Lets just say some-ah hell-a LOT of bubbles were burst over that strike. And later on when I became a teamster-you wanted a good paying truck driving job with regular hours where I grew up you became a teamster-when I needed my union they weren't there for me-more bubbles burst but please continue to pay yer dues. Teamsters were more difficult to leave than they were to join. Sorry for the rant but no longer a fan of Any unions. RIDE SAFE.

According to the article, the contracts are still good. Only the "pact" for making joint decisions is over.
Sooo... Harley has decided that it's going to make its own decisions like a grown up now???
From what I read, looks like a bunch of political BS that will make no difference in the long run.

As a union pipefitter for 20 years I'd like to say unions are great
Great to make money, when the boss doesn't want you anymore he gives you your money and then you leave the job
Job protection ? Make the boss money and you get some yourself
Nothing like a predator to keep things healthy
Nothing like a boss with blank paychecks to motivate the crew

I was in the Machinist and Aerospace Workers union in the '70. Never did anything for me. The union business agent did go to jail for abounding funds tho.

I have been been a Union Carpenter for over 40 years. As DirtyDan said.

Construction Unions (Building Trade Unions) are different than plant worker and other unions, no such thing as seniority. A first year apprentice has as much chance of staying on the job as a 40 year Journeyman. If you don't do your job you can be laid off and a new man hired immediately, No Questions Asked. We are drug tested before the job and randomly during the job. We are required certification classes on almost everything we do. Classes that we usually take on our own time. Every job we start, we start working ourselves out of a job the first day. When the job is finished, we are laid off, to find another job. Go hire a man off the street that meets all these qualifications, you'll have a hard time finding one. I will admit that some union people aren't worth a s---. But before you bash all of us, Please learn the whole story.
