A bunch of us took a ride today to SW Wisconsin to the Slimey Crud Run. This run has been held twice a year for decades, it starts at one small town, and ends up at another about 50 miles away. No rules, no routes, just show up at one or the other and enjoy the bikes.

For those that do not know rural Wisconsin, a small town means= 2 bars and a church, or a feed mill and two bars and a church, OR, a prosperous community might have a town shed for the snow plows, along with two bars and TWO churches. As can be seen in a couple of the pictures, the bikes go on for about a half mile or more in either direction from the two bars (this town has a shooting club also).

We had 3 Valkyrie trikes (Don and Barb had 2), Barbs cousin Dave and his wife, 4 - Valkyrie bikes (Black dog, myself, one eyed Jack, and Chrome Dome) that are affiliated with the VRCC, along with another 5 or 6 that we saw walking around.

The first one was really neat, the guy made the whole bike using a GL1500 rear drive, 1200 front forks, and a 1938 Ford flathead V8, sounded as neat as it looked. There were hundreds and hundreds of antique bikes, both originals and restored, along with thousands of newer bikes.

Nice pics.  You got small town right except my small town of 1100 has 5 bars, not 2 (really 6 bars including the restaurant) on a 100 yard main drag street downtown plus 2-3 churches in town, not just one.  Although, Pine Bluff WI is not a true town being what I call an 'unincorporated community' not really having enough people to make it a 'true' town.  I would really call Pine Bluff a crossed intersection in the roads is all.  2funny

How was parking and dealing with any traffic?

I was in Pine Bluff with my red and black Interstate, didn't make ride to Leland as I'm regenerating from a hernia surgery.  Weather was perfect for the crud, in fact too nice and it just didn't seem right.  I'll be back in May, hope to see some of you guys then.

Most of us went directly to Leland. Last time we went by the time we got to Pine Bluff, most bikes were already headed to Leland. So this year we decided to just go straight there and get a good spot to watch then all cruise in.
That would have worked perfectly if I had not missed the turn for Hwy 60 and almost ended up in Portage before we realized it.

Send me your email address in a private message and we will include you in the group rides when we have them.

I love old bikes! That Indian is a nice piece. Remember the seats on some of those bikes. Looking at them now I don't know how we rode any distance on them, but we did.

I bet that flat head is a warm ride? Wonder how the balance is?
