I carried a full auto AR while in Special Operations in the military.  I Never fired full auto except on the practice range.  I cannot conceive the depravity, the cold heartedness or the hate it would take to pull the trigger on a full auto at Innocents.

50+ killed 200+ wounded. automatic weapons . Continous fire for 6-15 minutes, depending on who you ask. Single shooter, was killed. Shooter was in a room on the 32nd Floor of the Mandalay Bay resort Hotel . Several hundred rounds were fired.

Pictures and news reports indicate the shooter(s) had access to two different rooms.

ISIS claims that the shooter had recently converted to Islam and is claiming credit for this attack.   Nothing to confirm this at this point.

Police are confirming (per reports) that shots were fired from both rooms.

At this point, I'm not convinced this was done by a lone shooter.

Generally speaking 3 to 5 seconds to eject and re-insert a magazine.

Yes - Mr. Trump's statement was entirely appropriate for this.

Getting Full-Auto rifles / conversion kits - not so easy to get. Takes alot planning and time, plus training to perform.

One of my meatcutters just told me of a couple of his high school buddies and their wives went for the 3 day festival. Evidently the guys blew off last night because it was so crowded. Just their wives went last night. They are all alright, but I'm sure it was pretty traumatic for all.

I wasn't there nor do I know what set him off. My question and most likely one the LEOs are asking-how cold blooded do you have too be to turn automatic weapons on a crowd enjoying a concert? I am also aware the talking heads must have their say/slant/ideas thrown out there as it is What they git paid for. Just hope the perp left enough behind to shed some light on his pure evil. IF what I just read is True Nevada has some of the most unrestrictive gun laws in the nation. LEGAL open carry-LEGAL fully automatic weapons-as long as fed guidelines are adhered to-LEGAL C C W with permit-LEGAL large capacity magazines. Legal auto weapons are expensive, controlled and only about 200,000 exist on the NFA.

Yes the NFA takes time and effort to comply with and a spotless record.

Almost no crimes (1 or 2) have ever been committed with an NFA registered full auto weapon.
No mass murders unless this is one.

Illegal full auto are definitely easier to get and usually cheaper.

I would bet money that if he used full auto weapons they were illegal.

A couple of other points are many casinos have “no gun” policies, but these do not carry the weight of law, and he had 10 rifles in the room. NO gun laws would have prevented this.

 But we have people who do not care trying to push legislation, with the result that only the common citizen will be disarmed, at a time like Hacked Valk said we should just let things be for awhile all allow grief, investigation, shock, and truth be heard.

If my memory serves correctly a gas operated semi-automatic weapon is managed by the hammer hooks.  All the automatic switch does is move the hammer hooks out of the way.  If a man wanted a fully automatic rifle and didn't care about switching it on or off he could simply remove the hooks and he is in possession of a fully automatic weapon.

On a modern semi-auto (I.E. Ar15) that would not work. Removing the hammer hook part would cause the hammer to simply follow the bolt home as the bolt cycles, but it most likely wouldn't fire (Or if it did it would fire out of battery and blow the weapon up.)
The full auto mechanism has to delay releasing the hammer until the weapon has completed it's cycle and the bolt is fully back in battery and ready to be fired again.

There ARE relatively simple mechanisms to make an AR15 full auto only (Lightning Link being the prime example) but it's still more than just filing the hook off the hammer.

Well, I want to hear about the rifles, and if legally acquired, or illegally modified, or full auto tax stamp ATF documetnation.  I listened to the (one crappy) video several times (you can't see anything), and I am not convinced it was full auto fire.  It sounded like it could have been bump fire; fast but maybe not full auto.  And for the short duration of the video soundtrack (which seems to be right at the start), he was not reloading very fast, maybe 20-30 or more seconds between strings.  He was not in a hurry.

They say no record of any kind.  Father was labelled psychopath by FBI... FWIW.  

Whenever this mayhem happens, you hope the shooter was already in violation of law(s) (which somewhat diminishes the let's pass new laws crowd).

His home has been searched (at least he didn't burn it down), and you hope there is evidence of motive there.  Or did he sanitize before his raid?  It was absolutely a detail oriented, planned raid.

And it will be interesting to hear what the girlfriend has to say.

Some more speculation on the shooters girlfriend that we know was out of the country but the police didnt say which country. Although there has been some articles that she is in the Philippines.


While Marilou is a free woman right now and no longer suspected of involvement, her recent trip to the United Arab Emirates in Dubai is raising some eyebrows. It’s not indicated when the photo was taken but appears to be recent, causing some to question if this trip was around the time that her boyfriend and perhaps her converted to Islam, Police stated today that Marilou was out of the country when they located her after the shooting. It wasn’t indicated where she was abroad when they held her for questioning, which seems questionable in itself. Furthermore, to travel abroad, she’d need all manner of identification, some of which was found on her boyfriend in his hotel room.

Agreed, I'd be much more inclined to find the people like the young off duty firefighter who rounded up people's belts and stayed behind applying them as tourniquets. There was much heroism last night. This guys actions might be more due to intoxication.
