I've been putting my Wing up for sale or trade in a few places.

Ad for reference: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,95159.0.html

I saw one guy looking to trade a Yamaha Tenere a few hours from home.  So I figured I'd contact him.

If you read through it, you'll see he doesn't have the extra cash to put up, but offered a nice Interstate to go with the Tenere.

Post # 8 on the above ad page for reference.

I don't really have room for two bikes... but the possibility of flipping one of the two is there.

Do y'all think that's a good deal???  I've never tried to flip a bike before.
Am I looking for trouble embarking into something like this?

Anyone here looking for an Interstate?  Cheesy
Or am I going to end up selling the Tenere after on ride on the Interstate??   Evil

Please share thine wisdom!!!  cooldude

If his price for the Tenere is good at $8,500, and you're willing to go as low as $13K, that'd mean a $4,500 valuation on the Valk.

Hard to say since I don't know mileage and condition, but it looks pretty nice.  Check out cycletrader.  RARELY will an Interstate be listed as low as $4,500, even with 70 or 80K miles.  You might have to wait a bit, but I'd be willing to bet you'd get at least that out of it, and maybe more.

I'm listed on that website at $14K... I'd rather someone here get it if I'm taking less, but it's been up for a few months now without much interest.

It's just bad timing on a Goldwing I guess... with the "new" model coming out soon.

$8.5K for the 2012 is a bit steep... but he does have low mileage and the high $$$ luggage on it (along with a few other pricey options).  With the extras, $8.5K isn't a bad price.

Of course, in the end, I may keep the Valk instead... it's a bit much for what I need the bike to be right now, but I do love the Flat 6.  cooldude

44K miles on the Interstate.

I now have someone offering $14K for the Wing, but I would have to ship to Virginia.
I'm not fond of doing this big of an exchange any other way than in person.

Gonna mull it over in my head for a day or two and see what I feel like after.

Surely you aren't considering this without a cleared check in the bank or a cleared electronic transfer ? There are plenty of shysters out there.

Definitely gonna wait for check to clear first.  Even then, I'm not fond of shipping.

The Interstate would be sweet,, and he's only 3 hours away... But I can't keep that many bikes.  I would definitely have to sell the Valk, and paying registration fees just to sell it a month later seems a bit silly.

And that's assumind I won't have trouble selling it... Lord knows I'm having a hard enough time selling the wing.
