Today Desertrefuge and I were coming home from a 4 day trip to New Mexico. I check the mirrors fairly often so as to not get "surprised". But suddenly a green escalade was 1 car length behind me at 65+ MPH. I moved right and he floored it and promptly left me in the dust. I was glad that doesn't happen too often. About 10 miles later, we were climbing up MT Ord and half way up one of our finest had him pulled over with the red and blues flashing. Ain't karma wonderful.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Where did you go in NM? I enjoyed our trip thru NM this summer. NM wasn't like I expected it to be.  cooldude

I was 9-10 over the limit and this route is one of the only ways down out of the mtns where hunters spend the weekend looking for Bambi. Lots of travel trailers, pickups with side by sides on trailers. Basically I was passing something. I moved over rather than speeding even more.

Fudgeman: You were in Northern NM. We came into the state on 180 through Luna then down to Silver City. Took a detour to a ghost town (Mogollon). On the return, we took Highway 191 (Devils Highway) back uphill to Alpine. The DH is 600 hairpin turns in about 80-90 miles. Altitude rises from 3500 to over 9000'. Then found a newly paved dirt road from Alpine to Big Lake. Saw pines and aspens and way too much beautiful high country. Can you overdose on Ponderosa pine smell?

We spent the night in Springerville AZ just north of Alpine. Never heard of the DH till we got to the hotel. It was 4-5p when we arrived so we didn't ride it. We took 60 into NM and 380 to Rosewell. Really pretty. Gonna do the northern route next yr.
