Last week was pretty bad, over 40 dead, over 220K acres burned, thousands of houses burned to the ground, a few wineries destroyed (1 that I actually visited last year).

It seems that Tubbs and Atlas fires are about 60% contained and there is a forecast for rain later this week, but it is still too early to celebrate.

Even here in the SF Bay Area we had haze and soot as a result of the fires 100-200 miles North.

Red cross has setup donations earmarked to help in the wildfires (Just donated): http://www.redcross.org

Some of the stories of escape are crazy. Hopefully they'll get it under control soon.

I have a pleasant memory of Santa Rosa. Old part of town, found a little restaurant for breakfast, on my drive to Las Vegas to pick up my IS in 2010, road trip with my brother.

I heard the town/portions of it burnt down?

Have picked up wine in that area when I was still over the road. Used to follow the produce season in California years ago also. Even as a former Volunteer Fireman can NOT imagine the horror or the time spent on the Fire Lines. Prayers up for the folks in California-Texas-Florida-Puerto Rico-And if I left anyone out I did NOT mean too leave you out. RIDE SAFE.
