Nice read Dan

These days I think of myself as a person with little to lose (few good body parts left).

The brightest flame burns the shortest and I burned bright

Keep going while you can, one day.........

Great story well written! You do have a way of grabbing us, locking us in, and incorporating our own feelings into the story... I'm amazed at your abilities to say things the way you do... Powerful messages, strong emotions, real-life stuff easily relatable to... all vividly portrayed and most 'see-able'. Your talent is impressive, and your success at this line of communication is apparent... Thanks for stimulating us!

That's high praise from a wordsmith of your caliber. Thanks!

Devotion is a choice...and must be a two way street...but that's what marriage should be.

and if I wasn't I wouldn't have sworn it in front of her, God, and the state of Texas Smiley

That was well written and well thought.

One small adjustment.  Devotion as a two way street is indeed what marriage should be.  It is, however, a personal decision not dependent upon a response or return.  It is not in the receiving but in the giving of oneself that one finds true purpose and reward in life.

I can't think of any statement that I would agree with more ... just replace "state of Texas" with "province of BC" and these are my feelings exactly.

My bride has been my riding co-pilot for over 36 years, since the very first evening we met. It's amazing how calm and trusting she has been and still is in my abilities to navigate us safely over all those roads and through all types of conditions over the years - even managing to fall blissfully asleep at times back there.

Very enjoyable read, thanks for posting
