Got home at 730.  This after jig leading us on a 2 hr. Parade after they closed 75 south of Lexington.  The parade sucked!  But the FCR was awesome.

Gig & Lulu,

It was great seeing y'all in Louisiana at the wedding, riding to Mississippi with you, then seeing y'all again at the fire-pit in Robbinsville! Looking forward to the next big thing! Glad ya made it home OK... Skinhead, too... parade?

They closed I75 30 miles south of Lexington ,  jig suggested we get off and take 25 as an alternate.  Unfortunately, everyone else took it as well and it turned into 5 miles of bumper to bumper, more stop than go at less than walking speed.  Right after we got off 75 they opened the north bound lanes but we were stuck in two lane gridlock in both directions.  It cost us at least an hour and a half.  At some points we shut the bikes off and started removing gear.  I did a kind of strip show for the folks removing my assless chaps.

Joe,

Don't want to hijack 'jig's' thread here, but... The visual of you stripping beside the road in bumper to bumper traffic... well... Wonder if any of the folks near you were reacting similar to the way I now do around coffee pots...? Oh, and be glad I wasn't leading... no telling how that might have worked out! Glad ya got home OK... enjoyed the fire pit sessions and you being part of that...

That road closure was due to a tractor trailer wreck.  The driver had a massive heart attack and then the tractor hit the center medium barrier resulting in the load of plywood breaking free into oncoming traffic.   It was a real mess, causing both directions to be shut down for hours while they cleaned it up ,evacuated the injured and towed away vehicles.

Mark and I split off from Steve, Jimmy, Hal and Dennis and rolled off of I-75 at Jerrico and jumped on 25.  We rolled over to 26 then 421 then 27 and a few country roads on a very meandering route back to Cincinnati.  We were lucky this time and missed the mess on both 75 and 25.  Did I mention that I HATE I-75!  Had a geat ride home after a great weekend with a super bunch of friends.  Pulled into home in right at 7:00.

Sorry you guys got caught up in this stuff, but glad I had the opportunity to miss it.

That's a shame about the trucker, did he survive?

This was a real mess, but once off the freeway, we got stuck in a massive back up and once in it, could not get out, 5 miles of crawling along with nothing to look at but traffic and Jig's ugly mug.  We were about 1 mile and 10 minutes into the backup, and could see the traffic on 75, that's when we saw that they had opened the NB lane.  Jig didn't get any prettier while we waited.

Had a similar backup on I40, bailed onto 64 once I reached an off ramp. I did my own strip show on the shoulder. Idiots ran down the grass to get past me to the off ramp about 1/2 mile away. A sheriff deputy was handing them out some awards, which made my day.

Joe, (Skinhead) you raised a fine son. I was glad to converse with that young man, you did a great job bringing him up brother. Gives me renewed faith in his generation.

Sure did like that Devils Triangle ride....and the great company around the fire pit.
Looking forward to Inzane!

Thank you Earl, I'm right proud of of both my sons.  Eric is one of those rare souls that can walk up to someone and carry on a conversation like he knew them all his life.  He does have his moments, but his heart is in the right place.  Hope to see ya'll agin soon.

Unfortunately, he was declared dead at the hospital.

Although I only saw limited pictures, that load of plywood was strewn in all directions and for as far as the eye could see.   Thankfully, no one else was killed.   I can only imagine what a 4X8 sheet of 3/4 inch plywood traveling at 65+ mph would do to a motorcyclist.

Regardless, next time you pass through Kentucky, Frankfort can't be that far off your path, give me a shout and we'll do something (even if it ain't right).  Wink

I had fun trying to edit the videos... I've recompiled some of the software
(ffmpeg) and and going to try to see what recompiling the editor (pitivi) will
do... I think I can get to where I can post usable videos that don't suck so badly.

I don't ever plan to post many videos, but now that I know I can get good
"photos" from video frames, I think I'll begin to like my new square gopro:

I plan to get a bigger mini-sd card and always shoot video, and take my
pictures from frames, we'll see how that works...
