I got to thinking about it afterwards. I hate thieves, and would get a lot of satisfaction from physically harming someone who stole from me. But I wonder. If I was walking down that same sidewalk and saw a $20 laying on the ground and nobody around. I'm sure I'd pick it up. Would that be stealing ? I don't know.

I watched a bunch of them and must say they are pretty lucky some of these folks didn't try to press charges.  The guy locked in the back of the truck could be a kidnap or false imprisonment case.  Sure most thieves don't want to talk with the cops, but generally speaking, if someone punches you in the face, then stops, then you punch him back.... you're both guilty of assault.

You are generally allowed to use reasonable force to stop a larceny, but that force does not usually include a separate assault aimed not at stopping the larceny, but just getting even or teaching a lesson.  If I did this, my face would never be in the videos.

in TX you are allowed to use any means possible up to and including deadly force to protect your property,,
