Well had to ask, probably already know the answer.
Both my wife and I alternate getting phones, on a yearly basis so this was my year. I wanted the X so I had never done a black Friday thing of waiting in line but figured this was going to be about the closest I would ever get to that experience. So I got up at 2:45 am and ordered my new phone to be delivered in a couple of weeks. Pretty much went off without to bad of a hitch but by the time it was all done it was about 8 to 10 minutes after 3 am. Long enough not to get the first shipment date, oh well. My pluses are the bigger screen on a smaller phone, quicker processor especially when on the road or at work doing multiple things and a few other things that made it worth while. So did anyone else here order it?

nope, too much money for a stupid phone. If i can't get it for free or close to free i won't buy it. I have had my Samsung S7 for almost 2 years now and i got it on verizon contract for 10 dollars a month for 2 years. My Wife wants the new S8 but i told her to wait closer to black friday and maybe they will have a sale on them. I refuse to pay 40 bucks a month for 2 years for a phone. I have never liked the I phone platform or operating system anyway.

We did the pre-order thing with our last new phone...4 years ago, and it was fun. We both wanted the Note 8 phone and we sort of reduced the sting of 2 $950 phones with a switch to T-Mobile and their 55+ plan for $60 for 2 lines (max) We are saving $100 a month on the service alone...

A little over a year ago I picked up two LG-G2's with new batteries....$65. My flip finally went south so I fired up one of the LG's, went on Cricket with two lines for $70/mo. The phone isn't the newest out there, but it makes calls, takes calls, takes a picture once in a while(none so far), receives/sends text which I seldom have need of. My neighbor gets upset with me, I leave it off most of the time....especially when I'm at home. I figure in not too many years from now a landline won't even be available for home use, but until then I'll keep one going. Maybe that's when pigs will fly!

I also ordered the Apple X. I have used Samsung phones for years, but I'm not brand loyal, only product loyal. I have the Galaxy S7, but I want a new phone. All of Samsung's phones now have curved screens which I dislike, and they put the fingerprint reader on the back by the camera lens which is a dumb move. Now that Apple phones are waterproof and can be charged wirelessly I am jumping from android to apple. I'm sure there will be a learning curve, but I'm looking forward to it. Robert did you get the 64GB or did you pony up for the 256GB?

Of course the 256 did you get up early and if you did how did it go and when do you get delivery or maybe you have an inside connection. Until someone comes out with a better IOS I will stay with Apple but I still dont like them for computers. I wanted to make more use of the video and pictures and not have to worry about storage even though Im really not an app person. I have never used a code to get into my phone so was hoping this new face recognition will be as good as they say it is. I tried it on a Microsoft computer when at Best Buy and it opened instantaneously. I hate when in a rush having to flip the phone put in a pass code get to the screen I want and then do what I wanted to do. My hands are also sometimes dirty so the extra steps with dirty hands is not appreciated. A fingerprint scanner would be a real challenge with dirty hands LOL I was also thinking that while riding if I wanted to open the phone it could be much easier since you dont have any buttons to push.

I announced to both my kids last night that I will never buy them another "phone" for the rest of my life, and then added that this goes for Mom too.
They both have 7's that are finally paid for and working perfectly. The daughter is working so that's it, no more. The son will be going into college next year and he just got a brand new Macbook. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaybeeeeeeeee if his grades are good and the technology is obsolete, he'll get one for a birthday in 3 or 4 years. Maybe. Or, he can use his summer job money if he can't wait.
How do so many people have so much disposable money?

The S8 is waterproof and can charge wirelessly. Hell, my S7 charges wirelessly Yes I know, I have an S7 and have been charging it wirelessly over the past year. Apple not having those features was a roadblock for me not moving over to Apple because I like those features. Now that Apple has those features, their phones are a viable alternative for me. I cannot stand the fingerprint reader on the S8's or Note 8. I also do not like curved screens, because I don't like how they feel and since cases have to leave those curves exposed, the cases don't really protect the screen from drops. Robert, I did not get up early enough to get in on the first shipment, so I won't get the phone until the 14th. I ordered the 256 in silver.

I guess I'm old school, I don't use the fingerprint readers and I dont like changing operating systems. I also dont care for the curved screens. All of my phones go in a protective case like an otter box or my new favorite the unicorn beetle. So the curved glass does not affect me anyway. I will admit the new I phone does look like a great piece of technology but it is just not for me. I'd rather spend that 1k on a new gun

To the original question, no, because I just replaced my Note 3 with an 8. I was going to get a Note 7 when they first came out, but they had a teensy problem with starting on fire, so I decided to wait for the Note 8. I really like/need the stylus of the Note, and love the curved edge phones. I have a padded workbench and like to keep my phones "naked" so I prefer to put them face down on the bench to make sure I wouldn't drop a visegrips or similar nose down onto the phone screen, but that means I couldn't see a blinking light reminding me I had a message. With the curved screen you can set it up where an incoming text previews along the edge where you can see it when the phone is face down, likewise it glows a moving green light along the edge when a call comes in. Nothing against the iPhones, I liked the one I got 10-12 years ago but brought it back within the AT&T 10 day period because it's call reception was weak and the guy said a replacement would be the same. I eventually moved to US Cellular but at the time, AT&T was the only carrier that could have iPhones.

My $45 LG makes and receives calls. Sends and receives text. Creates photographic images and videos and forward them to others.
Ummmmmmm what else do I need?
I can also send contact information. Use as GPS, etc etc etc.
Nope I'm not a Luddite, just like seeing my money staying in my account.

I do like my weather apps and google earth for unlimited map help when away from home. Have never even come close to maxing out storage space on this thing. Which I have done with my droid.

I got the iphone8 plus. Same as the apple x but cheaper. Only differences are slighter bigger screen on the x and no home button. And of course that facial recognition. But I don’t need all that. All the internals are the same between the two phones. Mine was four hundred cheaper though. I got the 64gb. Love it. Little useful info though, every apple product has android internals. It’s true. Research it.

Just for fyi the iphone has it and Im sure the Android does where you can get the flash for the camera to flash when you have a call or a message. That is on the back of the phone and its bright so it would easily be seen face down. Phoenixrizing Your right but I wonder how it works out when they keep suing each other.

Apple has their own proprietary OS. Android is a hacked up old version of Linux.
They're as different as a v-twin and a flat-6...

Yeah, I used that flash feature on two of my early Galaxy phones, but had hassles with my Note 3. Can't remember the details anymore, but it had to do with having to go to some politically correct named area for "handicapped" which changed/linked a few settings instead of simply checking a "flash on ring" option. I'll have to look at the situation on the new note because I'd still use it as long as it doesn't interfere with the ring and vibrate options. On a different tangent, lots of us DO need more than a phone from our phone, and are ready to pay for it. Don't see why other's need to get emotional about it. How many make pokes at those with two bikes (or even one 1520 one) when an old 650 Suzuki Savage would provide fine transportation at a much lower price than a new Wing?
