Ad Hominem attacks - a response to the crap I am reading in other threads

Ad hominem (Latin for "to the man" or "to the person"), short for argumentum ad hominem, is an argumentative strategy whereby an argument is rebutted by attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the assertion  As a lawyer I have to know this, as a member of this community I offer the following

How about some facts

We are at war.  
That means we are under attack, whether the person or country recognizes it or not it is a fact
The people blowing themselves up, running over people with trucks, stabbing christians, jews and other moslems are  moslem, muslim, practicing islam (pick one)
There have been literally thousands of these acts against the victims
Not to mention throwing gays off rooftops, honor killings of women, rapes, slavery
People of the islamic faith are not all behind this but many say nothing and many do this gladly
Many people and particularly many influential Mullahs and Immans ARE in favor of this
Many mullahs and Immans throughout the world call for our death

This includes any person living in this country and many around the world.

Does this bother you ?  It bothers me,   a whole lot.

Now I am neither a Christian, nor a Republican so I suppose I am a 1% er in this club and in a unique position watching this thread, and many others

Thats ok, I like it here anyway and would not change anything for the friendships I have gained here over the past 17 years or so and that includes people who are on either end of the spectrum for the most part as well as those who dont bother to post here but read the threads.

But as I say often, Attacking, demonizing, its all the same cowardice to me.   Attacking the moderator is churlish, its rude in a mean spirited and surly way and beneath all of us. You could not pay me enough to do what our moderators have to do, they have my respect even if not my agreement with their views,  (like for example invoking Jesus name at vrcc events in the opening and other blessings) and there are disagreements as to many things yet we are friends.

It would not bother me to see many threads locked or deleted as so many have gone to $hit.  
My suggestion is if you want to attack someone, use a damn PM and keep us out of it
Or meet in the schoolyard after school

And yet according to the "polls", there are people who believe that the weather is our real enemy.   

I am glad that the President agrees with you and that our military is making great gains, again. 

They are proving that the one-off attacks can't be stopped, unfortunately.  We can take back land in the middle east, but the sick and twisted that parts of this religion preys on can't be identified until something happens. 

They ask you to report ANYTHING you see that looks or appears or yadda, yadda, yadda.  And some people have, and were wrong, and were branded racist.  A briefcase made of clock radio parts got the family a few million and dinner at the White House.  Go figure?  And since other Muslims are more likely to be killed, they don't have very much to say out of self preservation.
