Yeah one for the good guys but I won't be surprised if he is charged with at least manslaughter if it turns out he did in fact shoot the perp.

? Even in Canada where you aren't allowed to carry a hand gun anywhere but on the way to a Certified Firing Range, and Never loaded, a man shot and subsequently killed a person who was beating on him, and was never charged for that shooting.

I could not see this person (I don't know the facts yet) being charged with anything after stopping the shooter. Even if he does, I doubt a jury would.

Agreed, he's going to be held in high esteem the rest of his life.

In my dealings with the court system a very expensive lawyer I gave a LOT of money to told me "what's right isn't always legal and what's legal isn't always right".  Just because you're a "hero" doesn't mean you wont catch a charge.  I Don't know what the jury would have done but 3 years probation and a felony on my record looked better than the possibility of 18 years locked up.

I seriously doubt that the State of Texas will ever file any charges against him.

Texas is still one of the few states where common sense is still alive.

Dad's friend owned a bakery.  Gets robbed by 2 men, both with guns.  One man enters store and walk up to counter with gun drawn.  Second man stands in doorway (lookout).  Dad's friend sees opportunity and pulls gun from behind counter.  Fires 2 shots that miss the man in front of him, but one bullet ricochets off of a refrigerator and hits man in doorway.  Man at counter takes off.  Man in doorway sues bakery owner and wins.

Forgot to mention, happened in NYC where EVERYONE has rights.
