The local School here-Willow Springs Missouri-had the Veterans Day ceremonies around 0930 this morning. And I even waited a bit too calm down before I posted in haste or anger. We had two Speakers who both Served-one just retired from the Army-2016-and the other served in Nam with The Air Force. Both speakers Invoked our Christian GOD. My dismay came because there was NO opening Prayer nor NO closing Prayer. Afterwards I asked the young lady in charge if the School or her personally were ashamed of GOD now. She couldn't or wouldn't give me a straight answer. BUT she assured me there would be both Prayers next year! We shall see and if I are still around and I remember I will report on this. Last year there was opening and closing Prayers. So here I am in somewhat rural Missouri and disrespect Has raised it's ugly head here. RIDE SAFE.

Sorry to hear that Dennis. It's the latest fad to not have prayers. Just like tearing down statues that are not PC in the crap attitude many have these days.
October 31st. was 500 days since 95 Theses were nailed on the church in Whittenberg by Martin Luther. My faith is stronger than ever. In fact I am now going to remember his stance and live his words that he said later in life. "Here I stand!" That not only applies to my Christian faith but also whatever it takes in whatever situation.
My thanks to all veterans who served or are serving and my remembrance to all of those that didn't come back, the KIA's and the MIA's, on this Veterans Day.

What does it matter? This country was built on christain values, not athiest values. I guess it does matter. If it was a private school, my guess is that the owner(s) can do whatever they want and it will be probably aligned with the will of the most of the parents (or paying costumers). If it was a parochial school, it is really weird as they are by definition associated to some religious organization. If it was a public school, it is more respectful to *everyone* to not say prayers. IRS doesn't care which religion you are associated with (they get money from Protestants, Catholics, Buddhists, etc) and last time I checked, public schools are paid for with tax money.

Still, what does it matter? I grew up in a town that says a prayer before most anything. I'm sure most of you were like my town. Maybe bigger cities are more diverse and did not do this but small town america still does. So you have 3 people in the school that do not agree with prayer. You don't do it just because of those 3? I don't think so, if those 3 do not like it do not attend. There is a small town north of me that has always put a big cross on their public christmas tree, last year some guy decided it offended him and tried to sue the town. The mayors respons and the towns people was covering that tree with crosses. Perfect response for an asshat that just wanted to be dificult.

Small towns DO make a difference. It was a Veterans Day observance, HELD at the school, NOT put ON by the school. Most of us in small towns use the school for big events, because the gym is the only building big enough! Just had a funeral a couple weeks ago in ours. Probably 500 there. The church would not have held half of them. By your standards, no prayer, no minister, because it is a public school? We also hold Veterans Day in the gym. Put on by the Legion, not the school. Hundreds there, Legion hall holds 50. With prayers. So narrow minded.

Well to answer the question as it was posted. Public school. Which B T W IS supported with my tax dollars. If the question was put forth-Prayer or no Prayer-I was Not aware of it being asked. Mel hit that nail on da head-lotsa Veterans the whole school-K thru Senior class and interested visitors. The American Legion Hall might hold 150-maybe. We are indeed a small town. Haven't been to a High School football game in awhile but the only kneeling done while I was attending was by both teams and the cheer leaders during Prayer. I also removed my cap while Our National Anthem is played And in my sweet loveable way reminded others to remove their cover during prayer and The National Anthem. On our P G R Mission today we said The Pledge of Alligence and one of the P G R Chaplains lead a Prayer. Nobody complained bout Respecting Our Flag and Our Country nor were there complaints about Respecting Our Lord and Savior. B T W-Salem Missouri IS another small town. RIDE SAFE.

I remember a story here in lib-land NYC where they were renting a room in a public school to a religious entity on the weekend when school was not in session. Of course someone bitched about it and the practice of renting out space in public schools was ceased. Look at all that money the school system threw away in rent collections because they have to appease those who aren't even affected by what they are bitching about.

We have lots of outside things going on in the gym.

Well putting ones coin where ones pie hole are I submitted a letter to our local rag-er newspaper. According to the e-mail I received it is in the Howell County News puter. Paper comes out once a week on Tuesday and I'll see if it gits space or not. A shorter version of what my original post is. Yes Rob-they do this either on Veterans Day or as close as they can-Fri was the 10th Veterans Day IS today the 11th. As I stated All school classes were in attendance-K thru 12th. And I have attended maybe 5 or 6 of them since I retired-9 years ago Feb 18. RIDE SAFE.

I read stories of mooslim parents DEMANDING and getting the mooslim food they need and to not have any pork served as long as their little darlins git took care of at schools. Quit serving pork for 3 or 4 and let the other however many change becuz they-mooslims-demand it? Yup-you may indeed open yer mosque long as my B B Q pork stand and my bar don't piss ya off.
