SE Wisconsin

« on: November 26, 2017, 09:30:59 PM »

Today was a nice warm day here in SE WI so I took the youngest and one of the son-in-laws out to the range this afternoon for a little fun. 200 clay pigeons were broken, 140 rounds of .22-250, 100 rounds of .308, 60 rounds of 7mm-08 and 200 rounds of .357 were hurled at paper from 50 to 300 yards. The youngest was free standing at 200 yards and holding 6 inch, 5 shot patterns with his .308. Off the bench it looked like one big, ragged hole after 5 rounds. (He claimed it was getting boring off the bench. Ahh, to be young again.) The SIL was gifted a semi-auto 12 gauge for his birthday last month and finally got to use it at the trap range. Even as a shotgun virgin, he was taking doubles before we ran out of clay. I spent most of the afternoon getting the 7mm-08 sighted in (new scope) and finally had sub-MOA groups at 300 yards off the bench. After the clays, everyone agreed that the Henry .357 was the most fun to just shoot, even with limited range and open sights. I guess I now need to spend a few evenings reloading so we have ammo for the next outing. As well as a new source for biodegradable clay pigeons, the last place I bought them is no longer in business and 20 cases just doesn't seem to go very far.

I almost forgot the SIL had his match grade .45 ACP along and at 25 yards, there wasn't a bullseye on any paper that was safe. coolsmiley

I now find any day free of the NFL is a pretty good one.

The shooting sports has been the only sports that I've been interested in for 70 years.

Active participation with the family teaching responsibility and good citizenship plus it's fun to do instead of watch. cooldude cooldude cooldude cooldude

after that fight with that one Raiders player where both got kicked out and more than likely suspended and heavily fined,  we all should be NFL FREE Sunday afternoon.... uglystupid2 tickedoff

saw a re-run of it later in the day and UNREAL what are these guys thinking?

I guess baseball clearing benches happen though as well at times???

Glad to see the Packers loosing late last night bad coaching in my opinion down the stretch surely wanted them to beat the Steelers though.

All my Sundays are NFL free! The rest of the week too. NB,,,who? I can live without any of it. College is teetering on having to pay the players due to the multi-million dollar contracts out there from the pro leagues. I don’t know if anyone plays for the love of the game anymore.

Exactly right. I watched the first two games, then at the start of third there were 3 Packers sitting during the anthem so I turned it off, never to return. F'em, they can do whatever they want now. Once I divorce someone, I leave.

I havn't watched any NFL since they decided that they were not going to require the players to stand, lets face it, some of the players have a room temperature IQ, so I wouldn't expect them to make the correct decision when it comes to who pays their salary.    But the league honcho's should know better.   Not missing much as far as I am concerned.

Now college ball, the BADGERS in particular, that is a different story !

Yah, saw that as well I think coming from the Packers I thought I would expect better and totally surprised that organization allowed that crap..

Exactly. What finished things for me was the coach and team president saying they support the players. Fine. Cowards. I'm done and not coming back. Start standing? I don't care if they start wearing kilts, paint their genitals red white & blue and enter the stadium walking on their hands. I'm gone. Football may as well be soccer, or basketball, or golf. I don't watch them on TV or in person, either.

Same here, complete gut punch to say the least. A few weeks later Rodgers was out-wish he'd stayed healthy so folks wouldn't think I quit cheering because of a few losses. I survived 3 decades of horrible Packer teams and still wore my colors proudly. Being a fan isn't win/loss dependent. Well, maybe for some Chicago teams  Roll Eyes

Watched the NFL for 50 years. My family has been watching the Giants before I was born. Monday Night Football was part of our family. Stopped watching after week one this year, and haven't turned it on. I admit I miss it, it's part of my life, however, when it comes to God or the Flag, I draw the line. Many of my friends don't watch it anymore, but of course, a few of my liberal friends still do. I was disappointed to hear that the ratings have only dropped 6 or 7 percent. I was hoping most would also shut the NFL off, but unfortunately, as we all can see today, the country doesn't stick together. It's sad!

Used to go to a couple Brewers games a year until all the strike/lockout/shortened season stuff started. I find after 2-3 decades without it that I don't miss it at all. I don't care if viewership goes up or down, this is for me. Will I watch the Super Bowl? Of course! the parties and pools and commercials are waaaaay too much fun to give up over something as trivial as football!

A lot of this crap started after the Sandy Hook shooting. Of course, we were all devastated by it. Horrific! I remember Bob Costas coming on during halftime and preaching about gun control, if I could have, I would have reached through the television and rang his scrawny neck. Something as horrible as this, and he comes on to give his political take. I almost stopped watching the NFL right there.
