I tried finding info about the friends and family with little luck. I did find this though. In it 2 of the girls said their mothers were ok with them "dating" Moore. A 32 year old man. Probably because he was an assistant District Attorney and they saw it as a way out for their working class daughters. Seems pretty slimy of them to me. But maybe it explains some of the reasons for no reporting. http://time.com/5029172/roy-moore-accusers/When you sink Your teeth into something you're worse than a snapping turtle. The thing is that you're judging him as an old man and by today's standard. Whatever happened, Happened in 1979 (38 yrs ago). While maybe not as heinous as what he is accused of, I doubt that most of us would care to be judged NOW for things that we may have done 40 yrs ago. As I said earlier, I don’t know if the accusations are true or not. But the women’s stories and mall employees stories seemed credible to me though. The voters of Alabama will make their decision soon. I do find it interesting how many have decided that they don’t care what he did, they will vote for a Republican regardless. I care what he "MAY have done 40 years ago", and being outed 40 years later a few weeks before an important election and having to choose between a suspect Republican and an admitted democrat, suspect Republican every time! Lesser of the two evils.

Topic: Accusations - Are they enough? (political but also Life in general)
After reading this thread and reviewing associated material. I guess the answer appears to be yes in politics, at least today.
Well politics sucks and has never been known for honesty and truthfulness and accuracy.
So why would any intelligent person give any real credence to politics or a politician!

And it do happen to everyday working folks. Friend of my Brothers was accused and did time-3 and half years of a 7 year stretch-for Just being accused of molesting his own daughter. no/none/nada/zero PROOF but he went away anywho. He has passed this life-the wrongly accused-but i wonder what will happen eventually to his false accuser? And this happened in Illinois. RIDE SAFE.

meathead, I call bullshit
Is this a repressed memory that surfaces after hypnosis? Of course not Who put the women up to it
Just how is it that these "memories" surface only now? No such thing as coincidence
A 14 year old knows what is inappropriate touching and knows to tell daddy or the police or her friends who would tell for her (or him)
13-14 yr olds routinely committing crimes here in ny (drugs) on behalf of older people because they know no death penalty for kids Kids in JHS are pretty cunning and make false accusations when they dont even get an A on a test. I blame parents first for no discipline but society also has let us all down. We have let us down as well.
So look, if it happened it cant be proven today in a court of law even without statute of limitation problems
Again, who stands to gain by lowlife methods, which party is likely behind it (hint, they screwed Sanders and their prior President was a sexual monster married to a woman who may be the antichrist)
If Moore did it, then I hope when he dies the Lord has a special eternal punishment
Both sides make me sick and I am glad I dont live in Alabama (this year- I kinda liked passing thru the state) and have to vote in this election
It wasn't repressed. Many of them told family and friends at the time. Call it bullshit if you want. Let's remember there have been many instances of children having things done to them and not report it to the authorities. And it turns out it was correct. Remember back to Catholic priests, Sandusky, etc. Are these allegations true ? I don't know. But the women that I've seen talk about it seemed credible. The 2 cops have no reason to lie about his being banned from the mall. Then why are the cops unnamed? I mean, if there's no reason to lie? Or, if they exist. "Seven unnamed people stated that Meathead doesn't believe we should ruin people's lives over accusations." See, it's still not true, even though 7 people said so. For somebody who requested that I not correspond with, you sure seem to want to correspond. One of the officers was named, if you had read the article. One of the mall security was named. The head of security was named in a different article. There are plenty of sources if one wants to open their eyes. Again, you entered a conversation I started, therefore, if I disagree with something you've added to the thread I started, I will reply. I don't ever reply to you in other threads, I actually avoid even getting involved in threads I see you are already in, which is practically EVERY single one. If you don't want replies from me, then don't enter into threads I start. Simple as that.

I find it terrific that people are still considering voting for him and not convicting him over accusations like you are able to do. What I find interesting is so-called liberals believing a man is now guilty until proven innocent.

@meathead: you are wasting your time bro.
Apparently alleged pedophile/rapist is better than a democrat for some people.
" _ But what about $NAME?" (where $NAME can be Bill Clinton, Al Franken, Hillary or anyone else that is not a republican).
To begin with, $NAME is not running for an elective position as we speak. Next, if you care so much about $NAME, start another thread about it. This thread was supposed to be about the low-life Roy Moore.
I'm really tired of the 'what-about' argument. It dumbs down the discussion.
Finally, it seems that people equate the evilness in all actions. That is also pretty stupid.
I will try to facilitate (in my own personal scale of evilness, YMMV): Child molester > Nazi > Murderer > Rapist > Harasser > Racist > thief.
And to each scumbag its own deserved version of hell.

Alleged being the key word. It's tough to prove innocence ya know. Especially on decades old accusations. But, having said that, I would say that I know a lot of Democrats who are very good people, honest, hard working and take their civic duties very seriously. Unfortunately, they are not the folks in leadership positions nor, are they running for office. So, as long as those charges are alleged, you are correct about how I'll vote. I'll continue to vote for who I feel best represents my values and attitudes. Regardless of political party but, as it stands, there aren't many democrats I can vote for. Rams

Except Charles Manson (like most career felons) was almost certainly a democrat. Not that they have any particular philosophical political beliefs, they just go with the free lunch (and low sentences). As evidence, I present you with this ..... VA Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) announced that he had restored voting rights to over 156,000 convicted felons. Anyone who thinks he did this out of a sense of justice and fair play, go sit in the corner with a dunce cap.

Savage you posted alleged..... That means squat if there is no proof. You call Roy Moore a low life... Do you know him or have you ever met him? Thought not. So keep those opinions to yourself while you live in the land of fruits and Nuts.. Also someone said that any would vote for him just to keep the Dem out? I am the only one in this thread that is able to vote In this and where did you see I said I would/ will Vote for him? My whole issue with this situation is that there has been zero charges Now or then and no reports of such actions until right before the election. Too convenient in my eyes.

Sadly, history shows otherwise. A third party invariably drains more votes from one party than the other, while finishing behind both of them, i.e. spoiler. I love the idea personally, but I don't see it happening in a time where Bernie Sanders easily would have beaten Trump had he become the Democratic nominee. Personally I'm very liberal on most social matters and very conservative on fiscal ones. No party will ever come close to 100% making me happy, but Trump came closest. Sadly, I see Congress in trench warfare for these 4 years on top of the 8 prior.

I agree with Meathead 100%. He has accurately identified the real problem as being the platform of the Democratic party. I know I'm going to be largely alone here but I think when electing a member to the U.S. Congress I should be largely concerned about what he will vote for and what he will support rather than what he may have done forty years ago. Would anyone be stupid enough to vote for a candidate that did not support his values and directions just because of being pleased with his social behavior forty years ago?

Would anybody be stupid enough to vote for ANYBODY just because they don't have a "D" in front ? Yes. (The previous was a rhetorical question.) I think you may be misidentifying. These folks that are strongly opposed to where the Democratic party drivers are steering don't vote for other candidates because they are not Democratic. They simply refuse to vote for anyone who is a Democratic party candidate. That narrows the options.

[ Nope I read it as the same ..... He will not vote for a democRAT!
I think you need a new keyboard. That one seems to stick occasionally. That is, unless you're trying to be clever......(it didn't work) my keyboard always replaces the "T" with a "P". only happens when that word gets typed. weird.

Agreed but if you refuse to vote for Party A but don't vote for Party B, either, you dilute your vote to half. Dilute it in half and you lose ground to those with no such suicidal plan. That's why I completely understand how people can vote for a horrible candidate. They still want to get the maximum support for the party that most supports their views. Getting back to the OP's question, accusations cannot be allowed to sway elections IMHO, because all that will happen is increased use of them to sway elections with stings or even outright lies. With millions available from both parties, how hard would it be to find someone who'd make up a story for a few hundred thousand dollars or more, about a Politian he/she didn't like anyway? Especially in a World where you hit the right trailer park at 3am and you can get someone killed for less than $100. I don't want Congresspersons thrown out of Congress on accusations, either. I want a conviction or a confession, because Congresspersons were hired and work for the people, not the Congress. If enough of a person's constituents want to protest or start legal action, cool. Take John Conyers, from MI. for example. Why would he step down now when he didn't give a damn about his actions for a billion years in office? Why did Detroit voters keep "hiring him"? No, if you want someone out of office for ethical reasons, have the balls to come forward and testify against them and when they are in a cell, they're out of office. Edit; Or Al Franken, who has always been nasty buffoon, yet just last week a bunch of his former SNL alumni signed a letter of support for him. They knew what he was, but he would vote for more of what Blue MN wants, so they will only pretend to support getting rid of him in the future because his replacement will be appointed by a Democrat Governor. Here's this morning's story on the pride of MN and SNL; Embattled Minnesota Sen. Al Franken is facing a new allegation of inappropriately touching a woman after an Army veteran accused him of groping her during a USO Christmas tour in the Middle East more than a decade ago.
Stephanie Kemplin, 41, of Maineville, Ohio, told CNN in report Thursday that Franken had cupped her right breast when she stood next to him for a photo in December 2003. Kemplin, who was deployed to Kuwait at the time, is the fifth women in two weeks to accuse Franken of sexual misconduct.

But maybe it explains some of the reasons for no reporting. http://time.com/5029172/roy-moore-accusers/ No reporting. Perhaps because it wasnt illegal. Just a thought. There is 1 (one) alleged victim, one. Not 4 not 6 not 100, one that says she was under the age of consent. As to seeing a way out for their daughters, think about the times and the area. The mothers grew up with a goal to be a housewife by finding a good match. The economy was a disaster, we were in Stagfaltion. Mort interest rates were 16%, CC interest rates were 22%, you could get 14% on a CD. Moore was a guy with a job, a GOOD job and on track to keep climbing the ladder.

Why don't the right-thinking people of a state organize to recruit and support an independent candidate with unsullied character? Aren''t there enough people disgusted with the current choices? Or does America's electoral (can't use the word "democratic" in this discussion) system not allow for independent candidates?

Tell me Savago, what if it was your son, accused of something he says he didn't do?
If it was my 30-something son, I would be the first to deliver him to the cops. And would next hire a lawyer for him having the due process. You understand with kids, there is no due process? Get turned in to CPS sometime by a no nothing busybody and let me know how it works out. You are not allowed to know your accuser, and you have zero legal rights against CPS. They have carte blanc to interfere with you and your kids at their choosing. If someone does it to keep you from getting a job, or advancing a career, you let me know how fast you decide to turn yourself or your kid in. Getting in on the crappy side of the pipe will give you a whole new perspective on accusations. People who advocate the death penalty when someone is accused of something with zero proof, are full of crap.

But money has corrupted the system to the point that if Mother Theresa were to run as an Independent against corrupt but well funded Republicans and Democrats she would be lucky to get 5% of the vote. The situation is even worse now with the "Citizens United" ruling from the Supreme Court. IMHO opinion until we can get BIG money out of it we are screwed.

I understand it was and is not illegal for a 32 year old man to have sex with a 16 year old girl. But in my opinion it goes to a persons moral character. If I lived in Alabama I'd want to know about it.
