I let Bonnie talk me into the google pixel 2 phone today as the Galaxy S3 I have stopped getting emails a few weeks ago
I could have attempted to delete and reinstall the app but both my son (who just got one and wife insisted) Being just a dumb country lawyer from the Bronx I went along Its like magic to me....
It took about 45 minutes for the apps, programs, contacts etc to transfer to the new phone which is nice and the fingerprint feature was cool. And the 15 a month for 2 years is half what my son paid a few months ago as its on sale at Verizon (my current carrier)
Hopefully she can figure out how to get the emails to load on the new phone

Evan, I'm moving in the opposite direction re. smart phones. I've had one since April this year and quite frankly...I'm ready to go back to a flip phone if I can find a good one. I seldom text on it and most of the time it's not needed, don't think I've ever used the camera, has 40 gazillion apps that I have no clue what they're for or would ever consider using. Doesn't do any better on making/taking calls than my last flip phone, I'm just not sure it's worth the bother or expense. Guess I'm in the minority.

I'm fixing to get a new flip phone... mil-spec tough... 5 megapixel camera...
Kyocera DuraXE
They have them for AT&T networks and Verison networks...
There's another Kyocera flip phone with a 13 megapixel camera, but it costs $500...

I use a Motorola Moto G on a Verizon prepaid plan - $50 / month (plus taxes/ etc.) for unlimited voice and texts, 5 GB rollover data . This may be something for some of you to consider.

Amazon has AT&T flip phones starting at $37 and it's a go phone I have one and it cost $10 a month for refilling unless I'm on a trip and need more time. IT'S A PHONE that's all I need. I'm in the minority too and am happy about it.

Put her phone on your account, then it costs her nothing and you for just adding a line.

Emails should still be on your email account whoever you have your service through and when you change phones just set up the email and it should load all the emails.
After having the Iphone X for a month now I really like it. Fingerprint would not work for me since most of the time my hands are dirty. The facial recognition is really, really good and its nice to have the phone open immediately yet be secure. I have never used the phone lock since there is nothing earth shaking on the phone that would worry me.
Another nice feature that actually surprised me and worked great was the voice directions.
I was down in Miami and trying to get to the hospital and made a wrong turn. Well whipped out the turn by turn directions and they worked great. Sometimes when I'm on a ride and don't know exactly where I am or where the road goes I turn on the directions and look at the map and can find the road and decide if I want to take it.
The camera is another feature I use most of the time, but I use it a bit differently. Do you ever have someone give you a business card and you hate to throw it away or cant find it, take a pic and when you have the time you can decide either to put it into contacts or just put it in a separate photo file under business contacts or just delete it. I love not having all that extra paper around.
The other thing about the camera is when I was working on the ac and had to remember which wires went where before I touched it I took a pic and had that when I was putting the thing back together. The same thing is great for documents also it has a new feature that you can take a pic of a document and put it in notes as a editable document or just take a pic for later reference.
Have you ever had to describe a part to someone on the phone, Well a pic sent in a message goes along way to helping someone else understand what you are trying to describe.
Bookmarks are the same thing on your computer, ever want the information on a contact you may have found on the internet, take a pic that way you have it with you and you can call at your convenience.
If you take things apart and they are complicated take a pic and it makes things much easier to put back together.
WiFi calling is another feature I use alot. If you have a weak cell phone signal or you get charged for minutes used on your phone enable WiFi calling and the phone will use your Wifi to call on bypassing the cell signal. Sometimes in the house or business the signal is weak and with Wifi it makes the call much clearer.
Home/business automation and security is also nice to have on the phone. I can see someone around my house when Im not there, adjust the heating and ac and turn lights off and on, even outside security lights. If someone rings my doorbell I can answer them from anywhere.
Not having access to Oss's secretary pool I use the voice dictation to dictate a letter sometimes send it to myself via email and edit it in Word and it saves me much time and aggravation.
Of course not to mention looking at VRCC posts while out or music or videos from anywhere and I can even watch tv from my phone.
I also have books on my phone to read and reference.
Just a few uses I use my phone for.
