I have a Gerbing jacket liner and a Warm & Safe dual
controller. With a jacket liner you don't have to route wires
down your arms to have heated gloves too, and the dual
controller also facilitates that. I wouldn't hesitate to get
Warm & Safe for the jacket liner instead of Gerbing, though
I know for sure the Gerbing jacket liner is awesome. Even
not plugged in, when zipped up around my neck in the cold
it is great to have.

It is possible to wire up your controller "reverse polarity" by
putting the black wire where the red wire goes and vise-versa.
Not that you'd do that, but the symptom is that your stuff will
run full blast all the time.

Ive had the tourmaster synergy jacket liner and gloves for many years

Never had a problem  The liner is warm enough that I havent turned it on yet this year.  Temps have been at or above freezing every day except today (Snow ending) I wear it under the mesh hit-air jacket

Dual Controller  but the gloves also have a controller which you can disconnect or bypass

you will figure out which dial is for liner and which for gloves really easy if you just turn one of them on at first.  I always use the lower settings unless it is like 20 degrees

Never felt a shock even when drenched  I would give it 4 star rating
easy to connect and disconnect as Hubcap said just one wire to unplug when you get off bike.   I have the connect wrapped around fuel turn off valve with a twist tie to hold it fast

I bought my Gerbings, I'm guessing, around 2001.

Got the coat, gloves and pants.

The coat and gloves get used whenever it's going to be in the 40's and the pants when I see 30's.

I've only used the pants less than a dozen times.

All items are in great shape and have worked flawlessly.

I run a double controller.

I run a fused wire off the battery, under the seat, coming out behind the tank, and velcro the controller to the tank for easy adjustments on the fly.

+1 on Warm N Safe.  I have a dual controller, jacket liners, his gloves which are AWESOME BTW.  With this gear and any of my armored jackets - and a balaclava if it's REALLY cold - I'm good down to 10°.  Haven't tried below that.  All of my bikes are wired to power the gear.  Even George.  But then I also use the plug to hook up a charger.

I should mount my controller on my jacket like that.  But I just stick it to velcro on the tank.

I use Gervinho, I’m sure the other recommendations are good too.

Critical though, is the fit. I went to a local Harley dealer that had a bunch in stock and tried the fit.  You want it to fit with just a light t shirt on. That is the best way to use the jacket liner so it is close to the skin. I didn’t buy from the Harley dealer because of the logos, just went to Revzilla and ordered once I had the size.

Best of luck.

Gerbing used to have a great warranty.

That's no longer true.

I will never buy Gerbing again. The liner I bought DOES NOT fit very well. The sizing was off. The glove connections are too short. The collar is ridiculously tall.

Over all it's a badly made piece of crap.

But do buy a jacket liner and gloves from the supplier of your choosing. You shouldn't need a dual controller.

They're all about the same.
Just remember to get one that fits snug to your body and don't wear a thick sweatshirt underneath.
I wear a light long sleeve t-shirt.

I just got a Hotwired jacket and glove liners from RevZilla. Lowest temp I've ridden in so far is 40s and they work well.

Just an FYI, the "Gerbing" gear made today in not made by the Gerbing family. It's not the same quality, and does not have the same life time warranty. I tried to get my old-school heated suit repaired and they wouldn't even let me pay for service.
Apparently a family member sold the company off against the parent's wishes. But that's not really my business.
Anyway, it's made by a Chinese company now, and uses Asian sizing.
I bought a pair of their new Gyde EX heated pants, but couldn't pull them up over a pair of jeans.

The Gerbing family has a new company called Gordon's Heated Clothing.
I bought the jacket liner, the heated controller, and the deer hide gloves.
Expensive, but great quality. Best winter gloves I've ever owned.
Plus, when I called them I actually spoke with a family member. And when I opened the box, it had a hand written note by the same person who took and filled my order.

For me, that kind of personal service counts for something.

I purchased "The Best Heated Vest" from the Hammacher Schlemmer catalog a few weeks ago (Part # PY-91149).  Although it is pricey at $200 plus T&S, I love it: the features it has, the battery life, and the great fit and overall quality.  The main reason I went that route after about a month of research (and 50+ yrs. of riding) is the warranty/guarantee: Unconditional, refund or replacement, for the rest of your life.  Any time, no questions.  I've bought other stuff from them over the years and I've used that guarantee and have  always been happy.  Saving a few bucks usually buys you remorse.  Stay warm!

Thats not pricey at all....most are around the $300 range.
But...battery operated? Not!

Caint say I've been too impressed with my Gerbing.
I've had two bad controllers (took 6 weeks to get one of these back from repair & all they did was cut, splice, & heat shrink, 7734 I coulda done that in 20 min), hot spots in two jackets (one shorted so bad it burned Sugar!), two bad gloves (different sets), they even made some of the battery pigtails with the +/-connections reversed (would run wide open all the time even with dual controller).
Customer service & that "lifetime warranty" were such a joke I jus' took to buyin' used replacements.

Next time I'm gonna drop that kinda scratch on some heated gear it'll prob be at Cycle Gear. Cheaper w/free controller, & I hear if you have something go bad on a trip you can jus' walk into one of their many stores & exchange it.
(If I found that's not true I'd go with Warm N Safe, love their wireless controller.)

Heated gear is great when it's workin' right,
but Gerbing's left me "out in the cold" too often (literally) tickedoff

Yeah, that's exactly what I was talking about too.
This current "Gerbing" company has been sold off multiple times.
The quality and customer service are horrible.

I bought from Gordon's Heated clothing, and am very happy with their items.
Just wish they made the full heated suit.
