a news article against the Hallmark Channel...too much "Caucasian cheer"

OK, so first of all I don't even watch the Hallmark Channel but I can see it on my on screen TV guide and was quite amazed when they started playing Christmas shows, but hey that their gig and I don't watch the stuff. So anyway this morning this news article came into my inbox from someone I know and as I read it I was just like WOW, WTF! If you like the Hallmark channel watch the Hallmark channel, if you don't, don't watch their shows.

I don't know about representation of Muslims on the rest of scripted TV, but certainly gays and feminists have won the war of over-representation on television. Why isn't the article's author complaining about that? Maybe she did, or she will, in another article. ** OOPS! ** I just checked, and the author's name is Zachary Jason, presumably a man!

Companies make TV that appeals to and represent the fantasies of their audience. If they do that we'll, and the audience is large enough, they succeed. Good for Hallmark.

Personally, I find syrupy-sweet shows unappealing.

Same here. My wife watches Hallmark all the time and gets all teary-eyed even watching the same fool show a second time. Her eyesight and hearing are nowhere near as good as mine so whatever she watches in our bedroom, it has to be cranked up for her to hear. Problem....our bedroom is on the other side of the wall from the TV room. I just bought her a new Samsung 43" flat panel UHD TV in hopes she can see and hear it better than the old 24" Sony. Then if it works good for her, I'll get one of those listening devices you plug in the back and you wear a headpiece so you can turn the volume down.

 My wife loves to watch those Christmas shows on hallmark as well. In fact there are two recorded on the DVR right now. If you don't like these types of shows don't watch or the networks that show them. If you are like me there are several hundred other networks to watch. Pick another one.

Looking at those movie covers they appear to fly in the face of current TV commercials.  If you watched the commercials, you'd know that nearly all families in America are bi-racial.

If the Hallmark shows iz all this doofus has ta be pissed about he fer sure and fer certain ain't been payin tenshun. There ARE things in the World I AM concerned bout BUT the Hallmark channel don't even make the cut. When I had the satellite and the Wife and Daughters were still in residence they-the Females in my household-did watch Hallmark channel. Course that was back when I still followed nascar and football!   Maybe some folks need the shows on the H C to offset all the other bull kaka being presented as "entertainment" these days. Case in point-when How to Get away with Murder premiered I watched the first show til two dudes locked lips and I haven't watched it since. MY CHOICE-NOT the "networks" choice. AND as yet anudder aside-I do in FACT Know how to operate not only the on off function on the remotes but also the mute function-mute in and of itself Is a VERY handy function.   RIDE SAFE.

My wife also enjoys watching those shows continuously.  I've tried to explain to her that they're really not about Christmas but only chick flicks that happen to be centered around the holiday season.

I'm lucky...my wife has never been a TV watcher so I've never had to worry about those saccharine shows, and now I have pretty much given up the boob tube addiction as well. We didn't get cable or satellite in our new home when we moved this past Spring, so now it's only the odd Netflix show or movie on the little TV we have in the Den, or MC & fishing videos on YouTube while puttzing in the garage where I put the bigger TV when we moved. Cleansing oneself of network TV altogether is so liberating.

Funny isint it.  We have Mexican channels, we have black channels, but you can bet your bottom dollar the feces would hit the fan if we called a channel like Hallmark the WET channel.

My tv doesn't get that channel, or the opra channel, or the shopping channel, or the Spanish channels, nor the religious or political channels or music channels or video channels.

It only gets the ones I like.

That article was so full of hate.  How liberal.

There are times when my social media inlets are blown up with posts from my overtly liberal/progressive friends, the vast majority being well educated and quite bright, comparing Trump to Hitler, rattling off a half dozen nonsensical things he's said or done and likened them to what Nazi's supposedly do/did. 

I find this so hypocritical.  The worst thing the Nazi's accomplished was the extermination of 10 million people and the genocide of the eastern european Jew.  They accomplished this by the continual propaganda that everything wrong in society was the fault of the Jew.  They said it enough and people believed it.  Then they equated the jews with animals.  They dehumanized them until it was OK to isolate them, to steal their belongings, to herd them like cattle, and kill them in mass.

And now those same liberals/progressives are blaming Caucasians for everyone's problems, as the reason everyone else fails only caucasians succeed.  Especially caucasian men.  And they are spreading this insanity all over our country.  BLM, white privilege, etc, were invented to belittle  caucasian men and minimise their achievements. To dehumanize them.

But Trump is the Nazi.  Hypocrisy.

I always find it odd that these types of complaints can be made about a private broadcaster? Can you imagine complaining about too many black people on BET? Why can the same xomaints be made against hallmark but reverse? Don't like it, don't pay for it and don't watch it!!!
