I had my accident that was a hit and run and I had Uninsured/Underinsured with Bodily Injury. Glad that coverage and it saved my bacon with the emergency room, surgery etc but then I was looking at something and it I think I should have received lost wages but when I spoke with Nationwide I was advised that I only had Bodily Injury. Now every time I look up Bodily Injury it list I see this:
In the event of an auto accident, uninsured motorist (UM) coverage – also called uninsured motorist bodily injury (UMBI) insurance – will cover you and your passengers for:
Medical expenses.
Pain and suffering.
Lost wages.
Now I didnt get pain and suffering, not sure how I would do that but I would be interested in others experience...I am waiting for my wife to get our coverage papers so i thought I would check here.

I F   you have a good agent , they should steer you thru the process. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Be nice , but firm. If it is handled by phone , bypass the first person. They are they are not the ones to pay out the money. When asked , I only give basic info to get to the right person. "Why should I have to explain it twice". I have been dis connected (hung up on) a few times , but I continued until I got what I wanted.
Our State Farm agent worked with my wife (attorney) both for and against (information) State Farm to get claims settled. He is a true people person. He wants the right thing done.
If you have an agent like this , no problem.

I wish the hospitals and drs. were FOR the people and not for Medicare B.S. in terms of paying out claims for ER/hospital stays.

Just call up any Nationwide agent and they should easily tell you or like said, pull out your declaration page, etc. that shows what un and underinsured pay out.  If says lost wages and pain and suffering, they should pay out something at least.  If not, you are S.O.L.

I had Nationwide for 1 year and good rates, but ONLY for 1st year upon renewal they jacked it up over 22% so switched to Geico, good rate, but ONLY for 6 months upon renewal they jacked it up 17% so switched to Progressive, good rate, but shall see how they go in terms of renewals soon enough.  So hard to find ANY insurance company not out to screw the customer over and be reasonably priced as well.

are we speaking of the rear end when you were on the super duke or an accident you had in a car.

Dont know Az law but do Agree look at the policy itself

Did you have a police report?  Was UM/SUM filed within 30 days?

There are several nationwide motorcycle law firms.  I cant make a recommendation as have never used or referred a client to one but russ brown is one nationwide maybe check his website

Oss, yes it was the Super Duke and there was a police report with the hit & run addendum saying it was not my fault. All of my medical bills were paid and the bike was fixed at the cost of $10.5K (should have been totaled in my opinion/wish)...I am not even sure where I read about the lost wages but I just got a book from a Mesa firm about motorcycle accidents...
I had dealt with Russ Brown when I had my accident on the BRP back in '03 and Mr Brown himself answered the phone!

Had uninsured/Underinsured of $100,000 at the time of my crash, i was insured with Progressive. My wife had serious injuries, the lady who hit us had Insurance that refused to pay (she blew a stop sign at a T intersection). Progressive continuously called us waiting for her insurance to pay and as soon as they did paid the full $100,000. It took an honest attorney to get the lady's insurance to pay but Progressive never balked on their payment. My wife had a permanent disablity from the accident.

Speaking of insurance...
Anybody want to share what they are paying for Uninsured and Underinsured?

I'm with Progressive 5 years, 63 yo, no accidents, no claims, 4 bikes on one policy.
Discounts: Claim free, Home owner, Multi vehicle, Motorcycle endorsement, Responsible driver.

Located Tucson.
Liability - Bodily Injury $100k/$300k, Prop Damage $50k - $36.
Uninsured $100k/$300k - $79.
Underinsured $100k/300k - $63.
Comp w $63 deduct - $2.  Yes, $2!
Collision w $63 deduct - $40.
Accessory (Sidecar) $5000 - $16.

Total $236 annual.

I find it incredible that Uninsured and Underinsured (at $142) is over 50% of the premium! The numbers vary slightly, but each bike is like this.  This is nuts!   tickedoff  Anybody else have this?

Think about it Pago, that IS A BARGAIN !  Why?
Because my friend that is the only part of the premium that will HELP YOUR FAMILY in event of injury from an idiot with no or under insurance !

I carry 500k on everything I drive because my family is worth it.

You are statistically more likely to be hurt than killed.  What happens after you are hurt is you cant earn money. Having a bag of money delivered to your door is great, but hope you never need to claim.

For 2 bikes (01 Interstate and 04 bmw 1150rtp) I am paying just about 800 total.  and that is in NY metropolitan area  Also Progressive.

Pago, how do you get a 63 dollar deductible?

I have 4 cycles also with progressive but 250 deductible and paying around 200 bucks for all 4 with pain in full discount thinking 250/500/250 higher coverage though.
