Christmas Eve day...

Ok so I was restless and ready to ride today. Mid 40's so on went the lined chaps over jeans. Heavy socks and under armor with a turtle neck and riding jacket. Headed east toward ocean and all the way down to Island Beach State Park. It was an easy ride and mellow speeds less than 50 the whole way. Once o got near the ocean I had that great smell of salt in the nostrils the whole way. Island Beach SP was empty and I cruised the whole way down very easy. It was cold but nothing bothered me. It was very good for the mental attitude. As I rode the clouds rolled in. As I left the state park I headed west and and it finally got cold whenimwas support to head north toward home.

I'd been riding for about 2 hours and my fingers started locking up. Clutch was tough to operate. I was looking forward to,red lights to warm my hands. By the time I got home it was 2 12 hours riding and frozen fingers but I felt good. Thank god for red lights and that big Valk engine to,warm my fingers on.

I look forward to spring but all in all it wasn't a terrible ride.

mid 40s with windshield is not too bad IMO during the day.  When it dips below 40 and especially at night with no sunshine is when my hands get cold.  I drove my kids 1997 honda magna home 2 1/2 hours from IL this past March started out pushing 50 degrees rare indeed even still for mid to late March and as soon as that sun set leaving the suburbs is when below 40 degrees hit very quickly into the mid 30s.  That is when near 2 hours of 75 mph interstate driving got tricky with NO windshield either wearing 2 gloves.  I had to stop every 50 miles to get gas and stop to warm up my near frostbit fingers.  I must say though that easy cruising almost all interstate got the best mpg at 50 mpg it has ever got all this 2017 riding season.

Tween the ritis kickin my keester and my O2 needs my lowest ridin temps are now nearer 50 than 40!  BUT I are still gittin in da wind when I can. May need help gittin offin da saddle one of these days but like I told the lady what wuz askin me bout my age and ridin-told her-politely-that ANYONE wuz capable of sittin arouind waitin on a heart attack. Much rather be doin what I ENJOY!  After all these years I Still Believe-Any day ridin Is a GOOD Day!  RIDE SAFE.

When you can buy an electric jacket liner and gloves. Makes a difference.

Glad to see you got out yesterday like me

If I am going to be out for an hour or more I slip a set of those toe warmers under my socks.  If all day in freezing weather one on top as well.  Think it was 6 pr for $5 and I still have some of the ones left that I bought in 2014 down at the sporting good store in Tennessee off I40.

When you are on the highway pegs or even the mickopegs your legs catch a lot of that cold air

+1 what Paul said.  Never a problem wearing the tourmaster jacket liner or gloves and the liner itself is so warm that even tho I just have the mesh jacket over it and a thin henley below, I rarely plug in the electrics.

5 inches of snow last night, so no riding till spring here. 
But on the plus side, 12 hours OT to start the ‘18 riding season kitty...

you're right on that, this is going to have to be the year for some heated gear.
