Recently I was perusing my November issue(I'm always a month late reading my mags) of the AOPA Pilot magazine. In it was an article titled the same as my post except it said "airplane" rather than motorcycle. After reading it, I think the man has a point, here's an excerpt from it that seems to support the title. "I have to spend time with it; I have to invest in it; I have to consider its needs in order to prolong its life. And for this, I get a thrill and a smile every time I fly(ride)." He goes on to say "keeping an airplane(motorcycle) in top operating condition requires regular maintenance, hanger(garage) space, insurance, upgrades, timely repairs, training and proficiency." When you think about it, it is kinda like being married. However my wife does find it uncomfortable sleeping in the garage.

I can’t be “married” I have to play the field. I am a life long gear head. I was for a time focused on my bike and it consumed my time to the detriment of other interests. I currently split my time between my Corvette that I have had for seven years now and my 67 Chevelle which I have had since 1989. Given my current age I decided it was time to turn the majority of my time to the Chevelle and have embarked on a rebuild mission that will take me a couple of years to complete if I hit most of my goals for the car. During this project build time the Corvette will be my pleasure ride when I just want to go for a ride and row some gears.
I’m also into a much less ambitious upgrade to my 95 Impala SS. 207k miles on the clock so it’s getting all new brakes, front suspension rebuild, and tires. The engine is still going strong and the transmission is hanging in there so I’m hoping I will be able to use it as a go-fer car this spring as it gets much better mileage than my Titan truck and it’s still fun to drive!
Truth be told I need to sell a few vehicles but I just haven’t gotten to that place yet. All the while I’m out in the garage I can see the Valkyrie off to the side waiting for me to return to my senses.

Well been away from my Phatt Ghurl bout 10 days today and she Still ain't called askin WHEN will I be back to ride er again! And I left her-Phatt Ghurl-in the garage with my Olds! That ain't NEVER happened before! She-Phatt Ghurl-took over the garage when she arrived. Since that happened when I was gone travelin-think Inzane-the Olds was put away and when Phatt Ghurl and I got back Olds went back to street parkin. Lets just say in a lot of aspects that matter to Me Phatt Ghurl IS a lot of fun and her upkeep ain't even near ex 2s upkeep! Probably goin straight to hades fer that last comment! AND as a big PLUS-Phatt Ghurl has yet to utter a word that P Os me beyond belief these days-no. Course when it do be time to give up Phatt Ghurl I KNOW it will hurt more than either divorce. RIDE SAFE.

Karen, what do the Italians call a refrigerator?............An Icabox. John, there is an advantage to arriving toward the end of retirement. Less money to spend on toys and also less ambition. I have only the Miata. It doesn't need work nor do I have the ambition to do it if it did. Jes one toy and it's in storage. Simple, cheap, and no worrying about too many toys. Suits me fine, no decisions to make, jes drive it when it's warm again.

I know what you mean, John! ALI and I have an anniversary coming up in a week and a half... 19 years together! Except for mom, this is the second longest relationship I've ever had... Wonder what sort of celebration we should have... I'm thinking about just staying out on this road trip, but I dunno...
I also agree with you on Karen's contribution!!! LOL, I'm gonna remember that one and use it myself...

"I think I might be married to my motorcycle."
I have three Valkyries. Does that make me a mormon or a muslim? ???

Nope, just lucky....with lotsa disposable$$. I'm giving serious thought to keeping the 1200 and leave the Valkyrie logo on the tank. Then I could say I have the dad and son, or maybe grandpa and grandson. If I could keep the front wheel on the ground I seriously think it would stay with the Valk for the first block or so.

So how many of you guys have consummated the marriage? For what it's worth I have been screwed more than once astride my Valkyries. Unfortunately that has signaled not the beginning but the ending of the relationship.

So how many of you guys have consummated the marriage? Not sure I should answer that with my first thoughts! Guess I could say I'm still screwing around with them, does that count?! Keep in mind that marriage in later years doesn't involve the "consummation" to which you referred.
